Help with Fully Headless Install

Hi Thanks everyone for helping in advance.

I have an HP EX485 which is fully headless and i never got he recovery disk from the previous owner. Which is why he sold it to me for a price i couldnt refuse.

the problem is now i need an OS in it and HP dosent suport or Sell the DVD for it either.

I also refused to buy an 80$ Cable to have a VGA out to use it once.

So the Specs:

EX485
Celeron 440 2Ghz 64bit
2GB DDR2 800
750GB Seagate (OS)
3x500GB (RAID 5 for Data)

I Have a Licence for Windows Server 2012 Standard (Not the Essentials) trough Dreamspark Also the Processor will be replace by an E4300 that i already have once the server is up and running.

So basicly i need help making a Fully unatended install, no interaction have to be necesairy, i have a USB DVD and USB Stick, Also the only thing i can do is to make the Server from USB for the install exept that i need something that would do everything by himself.

Thanks Again

I can tell you that you can use WinToFlash to make your USB install. However for the FULLY unattended install file I can not help, as I have not dabbled with that much. And a VGA cable cost 80$?

EDIT: NVM I think you were referring to this.

About the VGA it is not something normale you can buy anywhere which make it way more expensive.

This walks you through the whole process without the debug board. This guides is for Windows Vail, which was the codename for WHS 2011.
http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/04/26/how-to-install-windows-home-server-vail-on-the-hp-mediasmart-server/

In the article is this link:
http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/04/26/how-to-install-windows-home-server-vail-from-a-usb-flash-drive/

Which walks you through extracting the .ISO to a USB drive, and creating the cfg.ini which is the unattended file needed.

After you make the USB it's as simple as plugging it into the bottom USB port, powering on the EX485 and pressing F12 for about 10 seconds. Wait about 5 seconds, then press down 7 times and hit Enter (selecting the USB-CDRom boot option). Grab a beer, and wait.

You can find the ISO for the recovery disc and the original install. Since you own the machine, there should be an OEM license on it for WHS v1.

There are several walkthroughs online about how to reinstall WHS v1. Sounds like you want to upgrade though.

Hi the Walktrought for WHS 2011 should be working but it seem the guy making it complcated for no reason to me.

Also the WHS v1 Licence is there and i can get the DVD online somehow that not the issue, HP use a network instalation process which the "OEM" disc don't do.

I called HP last night and they told me i hade a nice 500$ paper weight.

I finaly made my autounatted file working this after noon in a VM, no intereaction necesary at all.

So i will try it on the server tonight and i might get lucky and have Server 2012 by the end of the night install.
