What you can do is if your HP still has an OS on it you can add the 640 as a slave drive to retrieve the data but not the programs.
The HP hard drive has spyware and its really screwed up. Id like to reinstall windows on that hard drive but for some reason my USB keyboard refuses to work on that PC and I cant continue the boot process. I wanted to take out the HP hard drive and swap it with my 640gb from my custom PC (that pc stopped working). Youre this wont work at all?

For starters, is the OS key on the 640 gig drive OEM? if so, it can not be used on another computer.
If it is a retail key, you can, but you may have driver issues with it.
Why would using the installed OS be a problem? does that have to do something with HP?
basically I have 2 screwed up PCs and id like to make one Frankenstein PC by using the mobo/ram/cpU from the HP pc and combine it with my HDD/GPU/PSU from my custom PC.. will this work? I have a copy of windows and if I have to reinstall anything, then I will
appreciate it guys, thanks
