Wanting to throw first time LAN party, need help!

I am wanting to have a Xbox 360 LAN over my home network, we have a Netgear N750 Router and I am currently looking into buying a switch to host more Xbox's.

I need support for 8 Xbox's. What is a good beginner switch with 8 ports that I can hook up to my router that will also give internet access to all the Xbox's? Looking for something under $40. What about the Trendnet TEG-S80g? That seems perfect.

Will this setup support 8 Xbox's over system link and logged in to live in a party? Or am I limited to system link on my local network?

What is DHCP? My router has it, so do I need it on my switch? How do I plug the switch into the router if it does not have an uplink port?

Answers to any of these questions would be appreciated!

Any 8 port switch will work, but one of the ports is used to connect to the router so you will have to plug at least one of the Xboxes into the Router directly.

And if I do that, will I still be able to access the internet from all the Xbox's? Wouldn't it be very slow since 7 Xbox's are all going into one port on my router?

Do I need to forward any ports?

It wont be slow. It's very common to have multiple 48 port switches running through a single interface on a router, and in doing so they are generating far more traffic than 8 Xboxes. For LAN play, there's no need to forward any ports. Even if you decide to go online for whatever reason, you wont "need" to either but you may see the "moderate nat" or whatever messages.
