Easy to say, but hard to do when you are in a store and see the made in USA price tag of $750 and the made in China price tag of $600 for the same type of item. There was more stuff made in the US at one point, but this exact situation is why there isn't as much any more...the very large majority of people just bought the cheaper item made in China.

I wonder if Walmart will sell these "Made in the USA" computers. wink.gif

There shouldn't be a price hike some of the current generation Macs are being assembled in the USA and they don't carry a price premium.

That's most people, I personally would spend more on USA products, but I'm sure I'm in the minority

Understandable as a consumer, but you might be singing a different tune if your job was moved overseas to be done by someone making 1/4 of your income.

As an American, I can support companies trying to strengthen our economy by creating jobs here.

What if there was no difference in quality? in this case the quality should be about the same since the items will be made from largely the same parts (which will still be made outside the US rolleyes.gif)

Well, I suppose in the beginning there might be issues with the US stuff as they are learning the process...but I also have a feeling that a lot of the processes done by hand in the Foxconn plant will be automated here in the US. As long as the programing and configuration are correct the quality might go up for the US items.

If these actually take off and start selling well...I may have to lift my ban of Apple devices in my household and support their move to the US. However, I am not going waste my money helping out a lost cause if no one else is getting on board with it...I just hope that there aren't a lot of people that share my mind set.

I'm really excited about this, but I'm confused at how people think this is going to mean a price hike. I don't think people really understand that the pricing model is exactly where Apple intends it to be, to the penny, and that decisions like this aren't made without factoring virtually every variable. It would be quite stupid to think that Apple would do this if it was going to have an impact on their extremely deliberate business.
