This display will likely go under the radar for most simply because it is a ViewSonic.
IMO it is the best choice out of the Dell U2713HM (bleeding, anti-glare cross hatching, burn-in, higher input lag), Asus PB278Q (bleeding, PWM flicker, higher input lag) and Samsung S27A850D (bleeding, high default gamma, higher input lag) and is worth the extra money.
It has a 7ms signal delay according to PRAD (they have the only accurate measurement at this time)! This puts it ahead of the Eizo CG275W (9ms, PRAD), CrossOver 2720MDP and Samusng S27A850D (tied 13.6ms, PRAD) vs. Dell U2713HM (15.5ms, PRAD) vs Asus PB278Q (17.8ms, PRAD) Usually multi-input 2560x1440 displays have at least 1 frame of input lag (17ms) PRAD's review is available in German here.

My Samsung 305T+ is on its way out and Samsung cannot fix them. To cut a long story short if I cant get it fixed I have been flirting with buying this Viewsonic. I am glad you have given this monitor some attention as its slipped under the radar a among the community.
Do you have any plans to get one of these for testing?
I received mine last week to replace my Samsung 305T+ which is on its way out. Samsung dragging their heals on a refund so threw the Viewsonic on my credit card.
The image quality is just excellent, the default mode pleases my eyes the most, it does come with a pre-calibrated sRGB mode but I find it dulls the image a little. The default settings produce a big bright beautiful picture. Seriously, i think it produces the best image quality on any monitor I have seen, a massive step ahead of my 305T+. The build quality is very good, solid plastic casing that does not creak, very little back light bleed although there is a stuck grey pixel in the bottom left corner of the screen.
The area that I was most disappointing with is gaming. While pixel response time is very good for this type of panel; I don't believe PRAD's 7ms input lag at all, it only just feels slightly snappier than that 305T which was a slug. I do game on a 120Hz TN with very little input lag, so I notice it. To be fair, it would not really be an issue for most of the games I play, but I play CS:GO and the Viewsonic does not feel good enough for it. It seems to show up the response more than any other game I tested.
I think serious FPS gamers should look at the ASUS PB278Q instead. If your into RPGS, RTS, TBS etc your in for a treat with the Viewsonic.
Not tested the Samsung display but I imagine once the Samsung has been calibrated it will return very similar results.
Movies and still images are great, but its not a good all rounder when gaming is concerned IMO. Its also more expensive than the PB278Q although that thing has some quality control issues with the amount of complaints in regards to panel quality.
I have not read the Prad.de review in depth so I don't know why they have only awarded it as good.
Been reading through a lot of the 27" monitor threads, hopefully your purchase and response will assist in my search for 3 new monitors.
Good luck with your purchase.
When I have some time tonight or tomorrow I will do a review or something.
I love the monitor its great. Surpisingly fast next to my U2312hm I cannot tell a difference in input lag. Over my U2711 its lightyears faster I've noticed the most in BF3. The colors out of the box are excellent and the build quality its great. The stand is very sturdy. The Matte/light glossy screen looks amazing, the coating was done right! This screen surprised me, I wasn't expecting it to look so nice. I played with the S27A850D in the store and I would say this is much nicer. Backlight bleed is within reason with all IPS/PLS monitors nothing out of the oridinary. I highly recommend this monitor for anyone shopping domestically. As I said above the build quality is great and maybe this is viewsonics comeback into the higher end monitor market (they've been MIA since 2004? I feel).
If you guys are on the fence about it get from amazon you can always return. I plugged this in played for 10 minutes packed the U2711 up and sold it. If you have the budget for it you will not be disappointed I am already considering a second one for producitivity purposes.
I spent about 2 months looking for a upgrade to my U2711. Going back and forth between color accuracy and screen speed (input and response time) the VP2770 seems to have the best of both worlds. Out of the box calibration (need to spend about 200$ to calibrate the new U2713H and around 100$ for others depending on calibrator) was a nice selling point for those of us without a calibrator. And the input lag of 7ms (prad.de) was a huge difference from the 18-24ms of the U2711. Pixel response from viewsonic was way off they 12 ms that they gave it could not possibly be right. (Amazon and some other US websites say 5ms).
If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
I've been doing alot of research on 27" LCDs lately and this viewsonic has got to be the most underrated monitor out there. Everyone keep commenting on how fast it is and the best part is it does NOT use PWM dimming which will not produce eye strain. I about to order this but am looking for opinions on black levels.

Im not really sure how to test the back levels but next to my U2711 its has better black levels. If anyone has a program or something that they could recommend I would gladly test for everyone at home. I also agree this monitor is completely underrated. A lot might have to do with Asus monitor costing about the same (PWN dimming of course) and better marketing (don't think I saw one add for this monitor). Another reason would be the Korean monitors. Compared to my friends Catleap this felt quicker, colors where way more accurate, and the coating was much better for me. These are all to be expected when comparing a Grade A/ A- panel vs a calibrated panel, plus build quality on the viewsonic I would say feels better then my Dell. I just like it they did a excellent job!
Most sites measured around 850:1-900:1 for contrast across all ranges of brightness which is normal for a 2560x1440 display, meaning that the black levels are not class leading but they aren't average either. There is no way to measure the contrast/black levels without a colorimeter. Taking a picture of 2 displays in the dark with a full black screen from a few feet away is the only thing one can do.
So after playing with this monitor for the better part of two months. I've noticed that it is more responsive then the U2711. I wish I had better methods of testing other then real life game play and normal use. The colors are great and hopefully this monitor will bring light to anyone looking in the domestic market for a monitor.
I tried this settings from the page "Results:Grayscale Tracking" which is :
Red 98, Green 100, and Blue 94, with contrast set to 70 and Brightness to 42.
I also did :
MANUAL IMAGE ADJUST:
Sharpness :100 edit:0
Dynamic Contrast : unchecked
Response Time : Ultrafast
Overscan : Unchecked
Gamma : standard
And every pictures and games look so amazing,i have the Asus VG278H,for sure it's faster in BF3 (for exemple: when you look around left to right and right to left),and smoother but i start to prefer The 2560x1440 one, every old games look better,i just bought Borderlands 2 last week, the colors are so nice and powerfull, when my internet connexion is downloading big files,i like to play PES2013(offline) time to download my stuffs, now the game look totally different specially during the replays.
Everythings look like before i was in 1280x720.
Mine should be here in a few hours. Maybe I'll toss up an unboxing video so people can see what it's all about. It is definitely an underrated monitor, especially compared to the competition. Dell's U2713HM gets undeserved praises IMO. I know 3 people that have done multiple RMA's on theirs already due to QC issues.
The toms hardware reviewer says to set the sharpness to 0 other wise there will be text aliasing issues, I did some research and found a few people saying the same thing in the new egg reviews.
True for the Sharpness,i have not even seen it,i already have to translate all this english in my head.
But yes the sharpness to 0 make a big difference,
Thanks.
