Been reading through a lot of the 27" monitor threads, hopefully your purchase and response will assist in my search for 3 new monitors.
Good luck with your purchase.

When I have some time tonight or tomorrow I will do a review or something.

I love the monitor its great. Surpisingly fast next to my U2312hm I cannot tell a difference in input lag. Over my U2711 its lightyears faster I've noticed the most in BF3. The colors out of the box are excellent and the build quality its great. The stand is very sturdy. The Matte/light glossy screen looks amazing, the coating was done right! This screen surprised me, I wasn't expecting it to look so nice. I played with the S27A850D in the store and I would say this is much nicer. Backlight bleed is within reason with all IPS/PLS monitors nothing out of the oridinary. I highly recommend this monitor for anyone shopping domestically. As I said above the build quality is great and maybe this is viewsonics comeback into the higher end monitor market (they've been MIA since 2004? I feel).

If you guys are on the fence about it get from amazon you can always return. I plugged this in played for 10 minutes packed the U2711 up and sold it. If you have the budget for it you will not be disappointed I am already considering a second one for producitivity purposes.

I spent about 2 months looking for a upgrade to my U2711. Going back and forth between color accuracy and screen speed (input and response time) the VP2770 seems to have the best of both worlds. Out of the box calibration (need to spend about 200$ to calibrate the new U2713H and around 100$ for others depending on calibrator) was a nice selling point for those of us without a calibrator. And the input lag of 7ms (prad.de) was a huge difference from the 18-24ms of the U2711. Pixel response from viewsonic was way off they 12 ms that they gave it could not possibly be right. (Amazon and some other US websites say 5ms).

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

I've been doing alot of research on 27" LCDs lately and this viewsonic has got to be the most underrated monitor out there. Everyone keep commenting on how fast it is and the best part is it does NOT use PWM dimming which will not produce eye strain. I about to order this but am looking for opinions on black levels.

Im not really sure how to test the back levels but next to my U2711 its has better black levels. If anyone has a program or something that they could recommend I would gladly test for everyone at home. I also agree this monitor is completely underrated. A lot might have to do with Asus monitor costing about the same (PWN dimming of course) and better marketing (don't think I saw one add for this monitor). Another reason would be the Korean monitors. Compared to my friends Catleap this felt quicker, colors where way more accurate, and the coating was much better for me. These are all to be expected when comparing a Grade A/ A- panel vs a calibrated panel, plus build quality on the viewsonic I would say feels better then my Dell. I just like it they did a excellent job!

Thread Starter
Most sites measured around 850:1-900:1 for contrast across all ranges of brightness which is normal for a 2560x1440 display, meaning that the black levels are not class leading but they aren't average either. There is no way to measure the contrast/black levels without a colorimeter. Taking a picture of 2 displays in the dark with a full black screen from a few feet away is the only thing one can do.

I really want one of these.

Small update.

So after playing with this monitor for the better part of two months. I've noticed that it is more responsive then the U2711. I wish I had better methods of testing other then real life game play and normal use. The colors are great and hopefully this monitor will bring light to anyone looking in the domestic market for a monitor.

That would be superb!

Awaiting your thoughts. If you use it for a week or so and then you can compare them properly
