I dont get to use my machine much anymore, but an upgrade was due so I ordered the following components. What do you think?

CPU: 3570 ivy

MOBO: AsRock xtreme6

RAM: 16gb GSkill Ripjaws

GPU: EVGA GTX660

I already have a nice case, power supply, and other components from my existing PC.

Less ram, better gpu.
For gaming that is...

So far so Nice.

I would probably go for a 660ti 670 or a 7950 though.

Still 660 will make you happy but thats just me.

Perhaps 8GB of Ram could have been enough and the money difference could been used for a different GPU?

The RAM was ridiculously cheap ($60 for 16gb)

I probablly would of gone with a better GPU, 660Ti at minimum. However mobo looks good, i just got myself the Extreme4 and love it so far. With RAM being so cheap especially on Black Friday (saw some $50 16GB kits) its hard not to buy 16GB even is it isn't needed right now. thumb.gif

Im not against returning the one I ordered and getting the Ti or something better.

I'd get an i3 with a better GPU if I were you, the ivy i5 is really overkill if you are only using a 660.

My 1090t, which is slower than your i5, bottleneck me in the 50-90 fps range in some games (e.g. bf3). No point in getting a better CPU if you GPU cant even render such frames.

I'd get a more powerful GPU like a 7950 or a 670 everything else is good.

Can someone please recommend a video card. I havent posted on here in 2 years and after 10 minutes you guys have convinced me to go with something else. I will return the card I ordered and purchase something else. Id like to keep it around $300 if possible. I paid $219 for the one I have.

EDIT: After looking through all the cards on Newegg, I now see that $300 isnt going to cut it. If you guys had $400 or less to spend on a card, what would you recommend?

I love NVIDIA GPUs but wont hide the fact that for $300, the 7950 Ati GPUs are a better deal.

A 7950 would really make you happy with a 1080p screen.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202006

It comes with 3 games but I dont know which ones

If you are willing so spend $400

Gigabyte 7970OC

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125413

or a Gigabyte 670OC

could be nice.

Edit 1 :

If you want a better warranty and customer support than Pay $420 and get a Evga 670

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130787

That is a 2GB GPU and perfectly fine for 1080p gaming on a single screen.

But if you are someone who rarely upgrades his GPU than perhaps looking at a 4GB GPU could be better

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130824

Best performance per buck GPU is still the 7950 though.

Edit 2 :

Nvidia GPUs also come with free games and I think they are Borderlands 2 and Assasins Creed 3.
