The average Joe has no clue what Video settings in PC games do or how to properly configure them, if Nvidia and AMD both release some type of software that choose optimal settings for them this could be big for PC gaming in general.

Yeah that won't happen anytime soon.

Games nowadays require a complete client restart for some changes to take effect. They can't be modified on the fly.

Not for the seasoned gamer who takes the time to know his game settings and GPU.

It will appeal to beginners and will benefit a huge area of the 'general' public who will find the whole "plug, play n be optimized" for Nvidia cards without hassle a bonus to their gaming experience. Good experience brings repeat customers and then loyal ones.

Completely useless for me and it's extremely limited for any slightly more advanced user who'd want to try use it. Maybe useful for beginners I guess but it isn't too hard to figure game settings out for the most part.

Messing around with it right now, pretty cool. I'll keep it for a bit and see how it goes.

Why? Well NVIDIA feel there are a large number of users who leave their games on out of the box settings, happy with framerates but not necessarily getting the image quality they could. Take Call of Duty as an example, out of the box it doesnt quite live up to the console experience but run GFE and it has the potential to exceed the image quality of the XBOX 360 or PS3.
This is a load of bull isn't it?

It just means that on default settings CoD probably looks worse than the console versions since it's probably on low/medium settings and that's probably how a huge part of the playerbase will experience the game since most people wouldn't know what to do with the settings options. Now if they run the Geforce utility the game will be autoconfigured and look better.

Exactly... I know a ton of people too damn dumb or ignorant to ever learn how to configure their PC settings - and so they run their XBOX and think it's better than a PC gaming experience. These people of course are also too dumb and ignorant to be allowed into my home, or anywhere near my PC for that matter, and so I can't ever show them the light.

This could be could for PC gaming...
