Resetting Window size and location to default

After doing some research I learned that I can reset explorer window by deleting these two below:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Classes \ Local Settings \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Shell \ Bags
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Classes \ Local Settings \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ Shell \ BagMRU

How do I do the exact same for let say, "Help and Support" window and "Registry Editor" window for Windows 7?

I don't know how to do it for Help and Support, but for regedit it requires the changing of permissions for a specific key in the Registry.  The only bad thing is that it no longer 'remembers' your last position in the Registry.  That is, you'll always start at the beginning.  Not only that, but you won't be able to have any Favorites in the Registry.

Here's how to do what I am talking about:

  1. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Applets\Regedit
  2. Right-click the "Regedit" key and choose "Permissions..."
  3. A dialog box opens up that has a list titled "Group or user names", and underneath that it has the permission settings for the selected Group or Username.
  4. Select yourself
  5. Enable the "Deny" check boxes
  6. Click OK
  7. Click Yes to the message that comes up

Now Regedit will no longer remember your last window position or size.  Again though, you'll also no longer be able to use the Favorites feature in Regedit.

Excellent!

I was able to use this method to reset the location and size.

Now I just want to know how to do the same for "help and support" windows since it does remember the last location so the information has to be stored somewhere.

Wonderfull, I found it!!!

By exporting [HKEY_CURRENT_USER] twice before and after changing the window position of "help and support", I got two .reg file naming 0.reg and 1.reg. The fc command in Windows or diff command in Linux helped me find where the difference reside. And it is here:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Assistance\Client\1.0\Settings]
"FirstTimeHelppaneStartup"=dword:00000000
"Height"=dword:00000302
"ImplicitFeedback"=dword:00000000
"NarrowWidth"=dword:0000015e
"OnlineAssist"=dword:00000000
"OnlineSearchTimeout"=dword:0000000f
"PositionX"=dword:00000302
"PositionY"=dword:00000000
"UserID"=""
"WideWidth"=dword:000001fe
"IsConnected"=dword:00000000

So the method of resetting "help and support" window size and location to default was given by me!!!

To be exaustive, I should point out that you have omitted:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU]
and
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Wow6432Node\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\BagMRU]
if you are on x64 or IA64.

To tell more, IE's settings is exposed through "Window_Placement" under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main].
