CPU + Mobo or GPU? - Page 2

Load up MSI after burner and Core temp. Move them to a second monitor if you have one. Play BF3 see what your cpu usages and what your gpus are at during a load. My old cpu was maxed out at 99% usage on all 4 cores. My video cards were only at 60%-70% usage. My new cpu my gpus are at 99% usage and my cpu is hovering around 65%.

I believe you have a cpu bottleneck like i did. I was not expecting the difference in games my 3570k would make i thought it will be a little better it has to me been night and day. Now if i had one gpu would it of made such a difference maybe not but i have 2.

And our 6870s should be more powerful than a 7970. All we lack is the vram.
Worse than crack.

I agree with Conzilla, your cpu is holding your 6870s as well as their vram in some games like bf3. I say 8350 if you still have that am3+ motherboard. it just makes sense. next is a gpu with at least 3GB vram, which helps in the kind of resolution you're using.

here, compare your Graphics Score with this slightly oc'ed 7950. my i7 is with the HT off.

I compared your score with mine and the graphics is relatively close while the physics is nearly half yours. Here are my scores.

My 3d Mark 11 Scores

that Graphics score is close to my stock, which is 8400 (900/1050). nearly every 7950 will oc to 1100/1575 easy. with the 8350, expect your physics score to be doubled as well.

the best part - your fps in games will double. even my amd chip with the 7950 scores P8000 as a quad and P8700 as a hex using old drivers. the 8350 is stronger than this phenom. i know.

I'm not looking to go up to a FX8000 line of AMD chip. It's either this Mobo & CPU combo or GPU. At this price point which will be the best option?
I have the i5 3570k with a gigabyte z77x-ud3h mobo which supports crossfire! I only have a evga gtx 660 and can easily run bf3,above 50fps on ultra ( even on 64 player caspian border). I do not have the cpu or gpu overclocked either but I sure am reading threads on how to do that. Lol
