calling all bang for your buck builders - Page 3

the adjusted build is nice you have there and fitted in a great 7950 too... i would stick with the i5 and the only reason i would change to an i3 is if you wanted to squeeze in an SSD..

Also I would grab This Samsung 30nm 2x4gb kit for $31.50 if you use this promo code EMCJHND25 within the next 40 hours, with those savings you almost saved $40 to put into an SSD like This 256gb Samsung 830 SSD for 168.

Edit: that 200r has 10% discount code making it $44 AR and AC, promo code CorsairDec12, is he going to use a dvd drive? oh and since you are on a very strict budget that 256gb SSD is out of the question but you can get This 80gb Intel X25 SSD for $40 after $20 rebate.

Depends when you look, HDDS prices are plummeting and there are crazy sales, you can find WD Blacks for ~$60 the 1tb version. I could only find one for $88 here.

EDIT:

Also newegg has 20% of XFX PSUs which are Seasonic rebrands and IMO they look better.

20% off w/ promo code XFXP20, ends 12/12

XFX Core Edition PRO550W $70 - 20% - $10 rebate = $46 FS

XFX Core Edition PRO750W $105 - 20% - $15 rebate = $69 FS

Go with the regular 3570 like someone else suggested. If hes not overclocking at all then the 3570k is definitely not the best bang for you buck choice. Period. You are right that you know better than to get a non K, and that would be the case....for anyone else. But someone who never wants to OC? It literally makes 0 sense to spend 20$ extra for a feature someone will never use. Just by the idea of getting the most out of your $, it is pointless to spend that extra $.

Also I hate XFX. Have had bad experiences with them in the past. I've also read many horrible things about their current coolers. I'd go with any other brand besides XFX. MSI is one of my preferred AMD choices, along with Sapphire.

EVGA is my overall best choice however for their reliability as well as their lifetime warranties. If you can find a decently priced amd evga go for it. In my experiences, they really honor that lifetime warranty with no questions asked.

Good cards in my experience though. Gave a 6870 to a friend that still works over a year later with extremely nice temps.

I call for BS. I never had any issue with their customer support, and was pretty successful with RMAs. When was the last time that you had to deal with them?

I had problems with DOA XFX product in the past. They forced me to go through newegg despite it being manufactured by them and brand new. XFX tried to do what newegg is known for. Luckily Newegg didn't give me a problem that time as it was a mobo and newegg, from what I know, is notorious for refusing to RMA mobos.

Not even delving into what i've read about their current coolers.

I'm just sick of seeing people follow the 'xfx is bad' bandwagon just because a few members here had an issue and were very vocal about it. Maybe you had a bad experience with them, but I dont see how a company who answer most ticket within 15-20 minutes and pay for shipping when you need to RMA something can be considered to have the «worst customer service in the business».
