That's like $100 for platinum and a mere 3% increase in efficiency. That's not worth it imo.

There are other options also, but the Lepa is the best one when we're talking about 1300W+ units, it's essentially a slightly beefed up Enermax Platimax 1500W.
The Silent Pro M2 1500 from Cooler Master is a flawed design... it has OTP issues, it can hardly output its rated power at room temp (which reminds me, I have to take it out the recommended PSU list)... the Silverstone Strider 1500 and ThermalTake ToughPower 1500 (identical units internally) are based on a (now) old Enhance platform, that fails to impress these days..... the Thermaltake XT 1375/1475 are CWT PUO based, they're solid units but I'd still pick the Lepa over them... the ToughPower 1350 is based on the newest iteration of the old PUC platform from CWT (again, unimpressive)... the MaxRevo/Platimax units from Enermax are essentially lower output, overpriced versions of the Lepa suggesed above.... and that's about it (the worthwhile 1300W+ options).
There's also the new Zeus 1350W from Silversone, which I personally love, but it's noisy (or so I've heard, can't vouch for that cause I haven't had the chance to play with one yet).

For three GTX 580's and an SBE:

For Quad in the future and an SBE

I know it's a CoolMax unit, but it's basically a Rosewill Hercules for a hundred bucks less.

I'd still say a high quality 1200w PSU is good enough. It will be pushed really hard when all your components are at max load, but unless you do it deliberately, it will never happen. Whatever you are running programs or stress testing, it's always heavy load on either the CPU or GPU, never both. My vote is on the the AX1200i not because of the 3% efficiency but because of the digital monitoring software.

I hope you have a 20 amp circuit with 12 gauge wire if you are thinking about a 1500-1600 watt psu that you actually don`t need. Seasonic X-1250 will do you just fine. I run 3 D5 loops with 3770K , 2 x 670`s, 2 TEC`s that actually draw up to 340 watts on a X-1250 and still have 150-200 watts in reserve. You must remember when using triple SLI you are sharing memory and power consumption is way lower than a single on it`s own. Single can draw up to 240-250 watts when pushed real hard and 3 in SLI most likely around 540-580 watts. Gpu`s in general draw quite a bit less power than they used to. Your CPU can be very hungry though up to 300 watts depending on how cold you can get it and how good your mobo is. thumb.gif
