Because they suck at drivers. They just outsourced some of it. That speaks mountains IMO.

Using 30 inch zr30w as my monitor at 2560x1600 i have used gtx 580 lightning, 580 3gb, gtx 660ti, gtx 670 dcii top, gtx 680 ref, 6970, 7970

In sli and cf with most cards

I prefer nvidia over ati when running starcraft 2 ( battlecraft/desert strike map) where can get loaded on thousands of sc2 units battling it out on extreme graphic settings

In bf 3 there was not much difference on the top cards

i have seen deeper fps drops on amd cards than nvidia

hard to tell if there is any difference. what is frame latency? are you all refering to "scan cycle"

Dessert Strike Really? Thats CPU limited. If you notice the GPU usage drops like crazy.

Here is a example.
Nvidia owner:
1) I never get amd. their driver are crap, Nvidia ftw
AMD owner:
1) In my experience they are about the same.
I have both HD 7970, HD 7970 CF and GTX680. CFX apart for FC3 destroys any game. Its so fast CPU cant keep up. BF3 is supper smooth. Other games dont even need that much GPU power. GTX680 does not feel any smother in my eyes, my bothers and my friends.

I think most people who have actually owned cards from both AMD and Nvidia are genuinely satisfied. When somebody asks for build advice, especially one with a more constrained budget, I don't shy away from AMD graphics cards. I decided to get 4gb GTX680's for my current PC not because I dislike AMD but because price wasn't my main concern and the GTX680 is better overall for what I intend to do. I still use AMD products in other systems and when it comes time to upgrade my PC I'll weigh the pro's and con's and make my decision.

Just noticed this. If you want those BIG battles to run at anything more than a slide show, you'd better have a mad overclock on your CPU. Desert Strike will destroy any modern system in the later parts of the game.

As much as I love AMD for their price/perf ratio, I have to admit. My GTX 590 seemed smoother than my 6990 did.

This thread has proven everything I have stated for the past several years.
I have quotes from over 100 people on OCN going back 3-4 years, through a couple GPU wars supporting this claim, including some from review and tech sites also saying the same thing.

Ferrari owner (AMD): "My car goes 200mph"
Honda owner (Nvidia): "Um... well my car doesn't go that fast but when I get to 120mph it feels! like 220mph!"

Only difference is in this case the Ferrari is actually cheaper than the Honda biggrin.gif
