Here we go again....

"We've talked about this before, and it is very true here, that GTX 680 SLI was smoother, i.e. no stutter, no choppiness, no lag, no "micro stutter" as we played at this setting. Yet, with 7970 GHz Edition CrossFire we definitely felt it stuttering. It doesn't show up in framerate, but it was very blatant and obvious as we moved about the game at this setting on 7970 GHz Edition CrossFire."

Will this ever end...

Every single time I was trying new drivers, I followed BradleyW's guide. Completely erasing any AMD/ATI bits and pieces from my rig before installing a new driver. I was very thorough every time. Believe me, I wanted it to work. I paid $450 for my 7950 when it came out, seeing prices drop to $250 and such made me want this card to look as my 470 and 9800GTX+ did once upon a time, however, I could not make this happen. I tried for 10-11 months.

I prefer NVIDIA. It's really just comes down to personal choice and how much money you have to spend. smile.gif

TL;DR

both companies have ways of handling "micro stutter" which is more apparent in multi-gpu setups. I really don't think you would notice that as much as a lower minimum frame rate. I would say that for single gpu setups it would be wise to look at benchmarks and get the card that shows the lowest acceptable minimum frame rate at the lowest price. For me it would be 35fps or higher.

My next GPU would probably be again AMD as my current one.The thing is,i bought my HD 6850 because of it's price/performance ratio.Even the GTX 460 was way more expensive than my HD 6850 in my country at the time of purchase. But buying AMD cards doesn't mean i prefer then.I personally love way more Nvidia than AMD,it's just the price tags of Nvidia Cards that are too high.Like c'mon,i could get HD 7950 Boost for 300$ which is on par with GTX 670 for 400-450$.That's the reason i probably would stay with AMD.But if i had the money to spend,i'll get nvidia over AMD every day of the year.

They do. I work as a computer tech and I have seen just as many problems from Nvidia cards and drivers as AMD cards.

Fanboy wars much? rolleyes.gif

in my experience they are the same in terms of both smoothness and drivers.

I chose Nvidia as my current card because of the features; PhysX, Adaptive Vsync and CUDA-accelaration.

I'd say if you dont want or dont care about the above features then save yourself some money and get a 7970. thumb.gif
