Question, what actions trigger TRIM? I know formatting and emptying the Recycle Bin trigger TRIM. What about if you delete files right away instead of going through the Recycle Bin (Shift+Del)?

Well, I can tell you that the two you stated are all I know lol. I haven't read of any other way, however I haven't looked into it much.
And what about other OSes than Windows? What makes TRIM trigger for them?

In Linux, looks like the basic "rm" command passes TRIM: http://techgage.com/article/enabling_and_testing_ssd_trim_support_under_linux/2/
Once again...

Is there a similar method to confirm if TRIM works under Windows? Right now, we just assume TRIM is working as long as fsutil DisableDeleteNotify is 0 but short of running benchmarks spanning the entire drive, I've yet to see a method to check if TRIM is actually working in Windows.

I've tried it, however I have failed to succeed in testing it out lol.

That does NOT tell you if TRIM is working.
That just tells you if Windows is passing the TRIM command to the driver. The driver and the SSD must also support TRIM.
