Need New Board CPU Memory Video Card - which combo would be stable and all work - Page 2

For multitasking, video encoding, etc. - going for 83xx is better idea because you'll have similar performance for less money.

that was my first choice when i was set with AMD - i want to give intel a shot now - i was not looking to add a video card - thats the reason also

i want to keep it simple in the case - i dont really game - so dont need top of the line video card etc, -

if for some reason down the line - i want more video power - then i add a card later on - i figure i give intel a shot - i7 should be fast enough to make up any difference in video end -

you have to understand i am coming from a 2.2 dual core AMD - 2 gig memory - DFI Landparty - its over 6 years old - i think anything i get now will feel super fast to me -

i tried the A10 - didnt work out for me - something went - was wrong somewhere - so thats over with now -

but the short time i had it - it was super fast compared to what i was using - now i figure just get the i7 and be done with it - the 8350 is cheaper but need a card also - so brings the price the same if not more anyway - and i have to deal with another item - etc, -

i wanted to keep a clean case inside for best airflow - that part is fine - the i7 in tests i seen - is really up there - i wont know any difference between the two - they are both fast -

i like the one chip idea - it most likely more than i need with video - the A10 took a 25 gig blu ray - and i ran DVD fab to make it fit on a 4 gig DVD disk - just the main movie - and it did it in one hour flat -

to me thats pretty good - i will see how the i7 does that - thats what i would play around with most of the time - so if one hour was good - anything less or the same would be fine for me -

AMD is the less expensive way for sure - but right now - i just want something to work period - and fast - - so i want to pick a board - i7 ship and memory ASAP so i can get going again - i feel lost without my computer -

using a slow laptop now - its my back up - better than nothing at all - now i am staring at my new case - all set up with no board etc, nothing in it - not a good feeling smile.gif

i need recommendations on Board - Ram to work with the i7 - something stable - i can OC to 4.5 at least - for everyday use - even stock would be blazing fast for me now - if i can get a little OC - then even better -

thanks - i have to look at it - but to get those settings etc, - do you have make changes in the bios etc, or just install them - and thats it ?

i mean - if my board has those XMP profiles - do i pick them - or does the memory have those XMP build in also -

right now - i am not sure which board i will end up - but the CPU is going to be i7 3770K at the moment - thats what i am looking to build on -

and looking for a good 16 gig kit - dual channel -

thanks

I love my 6850, but I would go with a 69xx as they added double precision math with this series.

Just a quick question: What motherboard do you have at the moment? I have the same problem with the system randomly rebooting while playing games, and I found out the Northbridge is overheating (Yes, I am running the CPU at stock.).

Yeah you have an upgraded version of my board though. I can only run USB 2 and SATA 2. I am not a fan of this particular motherboard. I am going to be doing a CPU/MoBo upgrade in the Spring, so, until then, I am using my Ivy Bridge VAIO.

not sure if you are referring to me -

i have since changed my mind about a video card etc - my last board - was the FM285X Up4 - wit the A10 and antec cooler 920 was running very hot - didnt work out for me -

i changed out the cooler - and have a new one in the box - will install with a whole new board -

i went with the UD5H - and the i7 3770k - no video card - i dont game - i will see how this setup works out -

i dont know why my last one kept rebooting - maybe the heat - maybe the cooler not working right - or maybe my mistakes - etc, - dont know - but dont want to deal with it on a new setup

the cooler seemed to be mounted good enough - tight enough i mean - maybe i needed to make a few more turns - who knows -

thats in the past now - - board is backordered so may take a little more time to get it together - most likely in Jan now -

as long as it works -
