thats hard?

No but it's something that companies like Microsoft, Comcast, AT&T, Best Buy, Walmart, Sony, etc would pull. Spying on you by default and making you jump through hoops to make it stop. That isn't listed in a help file anywhere on a fresh install. At least you can remove it though which is better than most companies. Could you imagine a Microsoft flavor of Linux? Oh god, the NSA backdoors and spying going on would atrocious.

You mean, just Windows. OS X/iOS and Android are *nix OSs. You most definitely can remove something like this if it existed.

OSX is more Unix than linux but today it's honestly neither. It uses the mach kernel, modified, so it has Unix roots but really isn't unix. [edit] Just correcting because some people in here would be horrified to think OSX is any part *nix as it isn't. It's just got a very powerful cli and power features, not for the faint of heart.

Before OS X the Max OS was still very much a nix OS. Then Apple started modifying everything in sight and what we're left with today doesn't resemble much of a nix OS at all. Terminal and single user are dumbed down even.

Tbh I don't see this as a big deal personally. I also see people that use Ubuntu as not caring much as they would have switched to a different flavor a long time ago if this upsets them (ArchLinux anyone?) In the end it is Linux and if you don't like something tear it out on your own or use an older version. Website are far more intrusive than this. Just going to the Google homepage jacks more of your info than this ever will. Essentially everything can be classified as spyware if people will be this nitpicky. "Oh no I had to put my password in to login to COD, this game has spyware." Durrrr.

Ubuntu used to be an excellent distro but they made a vital mistake. They went commercial and that will kill any Linux OS. They went "Windows" on us with a new horrible interface called Unity and stopped listening to users input. Just like Microsoft.

If you want a GOOD OS Distro then use Linux Mint. Ubuntu DONE RIGHT!!!! thumb.gif

Mac OS X as of 10.5 is Unix Certified, whereas before it was simply Unix-Like. But getting into Unix Certification and UNIX itself would be too much for this thread.
