I set the memory at 1066Mhz and that didn't work either.

Could this be a CPU problem? I was having pretty much the same problems with a new ASUS motherboard, I RMA it and got a new one, still had the same problems so I sent back the motherboard and memory then bought this Gigabyte board and new memory. I had bought a new AMD CPU for this build as well.

Could be the GPU. Do you have a different video card to try?

I was thinking about the GPU as well but it works fine in my other system.

I have another video card on order, we'll see what happens.

Here is what Gigabyte tech support told me:

"Please check CPU temperature in Bios in which should be around 45-50C, test with 1 stick of memory module, if possible I suggest to try different video card. Thanks."

I realized that I do have an older card in my kids computer to try out and it works fine, guess it was the video card all along, but I still don't like the fact that my memory is preforming at a lower speed.

Did you ever look into the CPU voltage and temp? The voltage should be around 1.35 or so if set to auto...when in the operating system and under a load it will go up to around 1.4v when the turbo kicks in and sitting idle could it could be as low as 1.3v

So for the last week I'll been running with my old Radeon 4850 video card and no problems. Today I installed my brand new Radeon 7950 and as soon as Windows boots up, the screen goes black again and I have to power off. Any suggestions? I don't think it is the power supply because with my old motherboard everything worked fine.

I just tested the power supply and the voltages are all good. I have no idea what to check next.

Just finished putting it back together, I used 2 different power cables for the video card, just for the goof, inserted the card in a different slot and all seemed well until this time I get a white screen instead of black.
