Bought a cable modem with integrated wireless. need setup help

They throw around how easy it is to install and setup. That its explained for dummies like myself but it obviously is not. It should be a simple task to set up an internet connection with a hardwired computer and multiple wireless devices with encryption and passwords set up and ready to use without hassle. All Im able to get to work are open connections that still are requesting passwords that refuse to work. Internet is not available over wireless still and nothing is working as my applied options ought to allow. Im sick of this wireless bs and im on the verge of paying someone to come over to set it up for me. any gurus out there that speak dummy on this matter in order to help me out with this supposed simple task. Thank you

There's usually a manual that comes with it tongue.gif

Generally there's not much to setting up a home environment.
Which model did you get?

Modems with integrated wireless tend to be utter crap. I can't say for yours in particular as I don't know what model it is, but from what I have seen and read that is usually the case.

motorolas sbg6580. The manual is vague to me. it seems as if even though i set the options correctly and apply them, they still do not want to work properly. The thing is that I cant understand is why go through all of these steps to develop a product through to the end and find that it doesnt work. Yet still be able to sell it?! Another difficulty is matching terms used by motorola to what microsoft uses as meaning the same thing.

There not that bad, and the one you happen to have OP, is actually a pretty solid one. I'm familiar with it, what seems to be the problem it's pretty much plug and play, also who's your ISP(provider)?
