Be aware that the i7 3930K will only operate correctly with ram running at 1600Mhz clock speed.
This information comes directly from Intel Support via phone call this morning.
My i7 3930K and Intel DX79TO Motherboard were freezing over the weekend because the
CPU does not like ram running beyond 1600Mhz. I exchanged my ram to Patriot 4x4 - 16GB running
at a native 1600Mhz, I hope this will resolve my freezing issues.
I downgraded from my original ram which was G.Skill RipJaws 4x4 16GB 2133Mhz today.
Intel tell me this should resolve my issues. I find it odd that a high end CPU of this type will
only behave with this ram speed despite the fact that the motherboard supports ram up
to 2400Mhz.
I hope this information was useful.

with stock cpu settings i have had no trouble running my ram @ 2133mhz but i prefer a cpu overclock over a memory overclock. There has to be some voltage or setting to get a good memory overclock with a good cpu overclock. Mainly though i would agree that this cpu doesn't like anything over 1600mhz

No is not useful frown.gif On first place you made two mistakes!
1. Your CPU is rated at 1600 MHZ
2. Your mobo is ratted for 1600 MHZ memory

So how you was expecting that RAM at 2133 MHz will work ????
From other side upload 420 have a exelent mobo which is rated at 2400 MHz and with a little patience and skils hi will manage to get his RAM at rated speed

Thank you Kope smile.gif Sorry for the error there wink.gif I hope my system will remain stable though at its current stock settings smile.gif
Will be playing some games this evening to test for stability.

I am currently downloading Cinebench to run on my hardware shortly smile.gif
Hopefully all will go well smile.gif

I am about to set timings manually to what my ripjaws z series call for. I am also going going to give vttd a small boost say 1.125 from 1.1. I hope that will at least get me stable @ 1866mhz for the ram with my 4.7ghz cpu overclock. Would you recommend me giving the ram a small boost?.(i forgot what the voltage was called exactly) I agree with this motherboard i should have no problem hitting 2133mhz considering it can do 2400mhz. It has been the best mobo i have ever purchased in my life. Only thing is set your own voltages and i mean everyone you can think of.
