high amp 12v power supply??

bit of an oddball one this, but i have made my own hho welder.

its in a pc case on wheels, this seemed the obvious choice. especially when i realised tweaked pc psu's make excelent benchtop power supplies for a lot cheaper than their equivalent.

however my current modular 850w psu isnt cutting the mustard. i have two cells each powered off a seperate gfx 12v rail. each rail is rated to 19A.

i put in car blade fuses rated at 20 amp to stop the the cells drawing too much current after it blew the 15amp ones.

twas only 1 amp over : s and the psu started cutting out instead of my 20a car fuses blowing.

so my question is.... can somone please tell me the best pc psu with the highest 12v rail amperage. im looking at somthing closer to 30-40 amps per cell

so 60 - 80 amps at 12v............ i dont want other voltaged rails. just 12v.

are sever psu's better? i think my friend may be able to get me some cheap if i ask?

thank for any help in advance guys

What is your budget, where are you buying from, what's the highest theoretical 12v draw the PSU would be faced with?... and is OCP of any relevance to you?

my budgets.......not unlimited.

but its got to the stage where ive paid 400 quid for the two hho cells.

they should get around 8 litres per minute each at around 30amps each but are only doing around half the amount of gas at 19 amps each.

after burning through around 4 previous underpowered psu's i want to just buy a compact "daddy" power supply and sod the cost to get it upto full steam without worrying of the dreaded puff of smoke and a dead psu.

i need 12v at a minimum of 80amps to be safe. and if it could still fit in a pc case where a regular power supply would go it would be a bonus.

so yeah any price, any shop/internet, minimum 12v@80amp, would be nice if it was regular pc psu size (not nessesity) oh and english 240v ac mains supply

thanks

Here you go, 12v wires at 16AWG, so you shouldn't overload and melt any of them, regulation is brilliant and being indy regulated (DC to DC secondary) you won't run in any issues while generating 12v load only... the price is alright too.

What PSUs have you burned this far?

a TX850 has 70 amp on the 12v with heft wire, not sure on the gauge though.

EDIT: Never mind. redface.gif
