it's not really hype though. unless you like viruses, slow boot times, no true command line, convoluted file system

I really should get around to setting up that Linux drive on my system. I have a couple of old laptop hard drives that I will put into RAID 0 and put linux on.

No, it's not.

Have been using it flawlessy since the client was leaked and put into the Arch User Repository.

I can back that up. the beta works flawlessly on fedora. if you thought you could just play, remember it is a closed beta rolleyes.gif you need to apply and hope you get the invite. if not then you can look around but are locked out of most games

no. the whole reason why everyone in the linux community is happy is because gaming is the only place in which windows can be better then linux. this may be a bit biased, but other then that windows is complete sh** for everything else. there is absolutely nothing else linux can't do better, except rip you off.

The whole point is so that windows doesn't have a place among anyone who knows anything about computer. evidently the world won't switch, but if linux gaming (big titles will hopfully start supporting an a year or two) then no one on OCN has any excuse not to use it considering how downright bad every windows release in the last 10 years has been

Erm, I'm an avid Linux user, but Windows has a palce with people who know things about computers.

I honestly don't care a single bit about what happens to Micrsoft and Windows once Linux gaming finally and truly takes off. But when I don't need a Windows instalation any longer I won't have one, and Valve is on the way to making that a reality.

LOL. if you get viruses and slow boot times you really need to re evaluate your computer uses and your computer hardware. also explain why the file system is convoulted. it is absolutely clean cut and very easy to search for and find things in windows.

Also to Phil1978, people use windows partly because of the ease, and secondly because it is a power user OS. you can do everything you need to on it without worry of compatability issues, and do it quickly. And yes, i have tried linux before and i prefer Windows for my uses.
