[Softpedia] Steam for Linux Will Get Eight Amazing New Games - Page 8

Methinks I'll just leave this here...

Windows and Linux are each at the heart of different communities with different opinions about the way the world works. To use Linux, you need to know a bit about those differences.

This guide will show how subtly different behaviours in Linux and Windows have evolved from radically different philosophies about the place that computers should occupy in the world.

Linux users are getting what they've wanted for years and now for those who can, are able to completely abandon Windows. What then gives you the right to tell others that they should be doing the same as you? As much as I enjoy using linux WINE is too hit or miss to depend on professionally and open source programs are good but they don't have anywhere near the feature set of the Windows equivalent.
From what I saw, noone has said "ZOMG*** LINUX IS BAD WINDOWS IS MASTER OS!!!!" but they've mentioned the bugs and then spoke from their personal preference. But then seeing crap like "Windows is for noobs who only want better graphics" or "If you like viruses and slow boot times then stick to windows" makes me wonder if maybe MacOS users aren't some of the most childish people I've seen. Linux is great for those who enjoy it, like it or not. Not everyone does like it which is why the majority will stick to Windows for now. I enjoy linux, but I won't be switching full time until I can get the Adobe software running without problems.
The immaturity in here i terrible. It's not so hard, show a little respect thumb.gif

The problem could simply be solved if Windows users would allow Linux users to enjoy their new toys without trying to take the fun away.

So what if this won't effect us for a year? or two years? or more? it's a start to something pretty big and we should be excited about it. If you're ( not you specifically vakten, just in general for some of the other posts here ) are a Windows user and have no plan to come to Linux regardless, why come into this thread spreading doubt? This doesn't effect you as a Windows only user in any way possible.

I've said it a million times over, Steam coming to Linux isn't about making Windows users switch over to Linux. If some do then great, if not then oh well no worries.

Yeah, it's kind of sad altogether, just like the Windows 8 debate, this summer. I would love to use Linux, but I will always have to use Windows for compatibility, unless the market changes vastly.

Yeah and I completely agree, I suppose it's my bad that I wrote this before having my morning coffee as it comes off as if I'm only talking to the Linux guys but I intended it to go both ways. Just annoys me that lately all there is on here is bashing others over personal preference.

Just the nature of OCN, Facts are Opinions and Opinions are Facts. One users personal preference is the only option and will always be fact and so on. Anything Windows 8 comes up this way, anything Apple comes up this way, anything Linux ends up this way. I usually tend to ignore it, but sometimes it just gets to be too much to just sit back and ignore.

But yeah Windows will always have its place as long as it's the dominate OS, at least for specific or professional work related programs and for the time being games. Just like Linux will always have it's place, and I'm quite comfy in GNU land smile.gif And I've never been one to deny it, but I do give credit where it's due. Whether Windows deserves it or Linux.

Yup. Usually it's just a problem Broadcom chip as they're usually the only one that requires any extra work competitivesmiley.png
