The controls are terrible (movement, camera, R.E. style aiming). Maybe that opinion comes from primarily playing games in first person and expecting to be able to micromanage my position in 3D space at any given moment, rather than switching from "point the stick in the direction you want to move" to "snake can sometimes only turn in a certain radius and will randomly crawl backward clear into the open when you just want him to move to the side a little" every time you lay down to try and hide. Simply put, the controls are archaic.
With MGS 3 they did start to copy Splinter Cell, which is good, but it would have been nice if they could have completely abandoned the old control scheme.

Metal Gear Solid isn't for you, then. Play another game series and please, never try to comment on MGS again. MGS did not copy Splinter Cell. The controls are fine. The gameplay is fine and the cutscenes are just fine. The MGS formula is a good one and it's an extremely enjoyable game series.

No. GZ wasn't announced in February. Both the Moby Dick Studio website and the GZ trailer only say PS3 and 360.

This isn't confirmed as MGS5, though it'd be crazy to not be that way. Some things to note.

- Main focus of the trailer seems to be Big Boss. This could be a sequence far at the end of the game. It's been suggested to be a dream sequence as well. It's possible the sequence is far at the end of the game, due to Big Bosses weakened state. Or perhaps a form of VR or dream state.

- The man with his face wrapped up has been linked to the scarred man from MGS Ground Zeroes trailer. Could be one and the same.

- The person on fire has visible leg armor, very reminiscent of Colonel Volgin's armor. Being on fire would also mimic the state in which he died. If a memory of Big Boss, the whole dream state or virtual reality seems possible. Maybe it's a sequence built off of Big Bosses memories. Who knows!

Either way, change of undies and pants needed. MGS <3

Yet again another person who hasn't tried MGS, but tries to explain it using testimonials from people online who haven't tried MGS or played two minutes and found it way too difficult because they lacked discipline, and had a trigger finger that only works in games like COD.

Basically, you're just rehashing what the people who have no idea what they're talking about say. You posted fluff in a METAL GEAR SOLID thread, did you think you could get away with it?

I love the formula, and all the games have been Platinum in my eyes.

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory was nearly perfect, you could aim quickly and move in any direction at the same time, switch shoulders, and the direction you move doesn't get switched on you with the camera in tight spaces.

I own every game in the series outside of the PSP titles. I played, and enjoyed MGS 1, 2, the first half of 3 (so far), and I've watched MGS 4 multiple times (I don't think I missed much, but from what I've seen the controls are better in MGS 4, AKA they copied Splinter Cell even better).
The primary difference between me and most people is I'm not a Sony fanboy with as much nostalgia for the original MGS as Nintendo fanboys have for TLoZOoT.

Another suggestion that has been made. If this character really is Big Boss, it's quite possible this sequence in the trailer takes place after Metal Gear 1. If you haven't beaten it or don't want to know what happens, don't keep reading....

- Big boss encounters Solid Snake at the end of Metal Gear 1. Snake and Boss fight, resulting in Boss being hurt through a self destruct mechanism. The reason this Big Boss seemed so thin is possibly due to him having been in stasis, or a coma. His arm was destroyed and replaced. It's possible, if that is what happens, that you will fight Solid Snake at one point in the game. With that said, it's possible the game takes place before, and/or after Metal gear.

It's quite possible we could be seeing Solid, Liquid, and Solidus Snake in this game. You never know if you'll start the game with Big Boss and by the end you get to control another Snake.

- Another speculation is that the character in the trailer is actually Liquid Snake. This seems highly unlikely, unless the game takes place after MGS 1, 2 or 4. Which once again is very unlikely. In the first Ground Zeroes trailer we seem to see Chico, who is still young. From Peace Walker Chico was just a boy. So this somewhat re-affirms that the game takes place after Peace Walker, and around the time of the up bringing of Solid Snake.

Whatever it is. This new trailer just threw the MGS universe for a trip. There is a huge plethora of things that could happen and as it looks right now, it's going to be a treat for us MGS fans biggrin.gif
