- Big boss encounters Solid Snake at the end of Metal Gear 1. Snake and Boss fight, resulting in Boss being hurt through a self destruct mechanism. The reason this Big Boss seemed so thin is possibly due to him having been in stasis, or a coma. His arm was destroyed and replaced. It's possible, if that is what happens, that you will fight Solid Snake at one point in the game. With that said, it's possible the game takes place before, and/or after Metal gear.
It's quite possible we could be seeing Solid, Liquid, and Solidus Snake in this game. You never know if you'll start the game with Big Boss and by the end you get to control another Snake.
- Another speculation is that the character in the trailer is actually Liquid Snake. This seems highly unlikely, unless the game takes place after MGS 1, 2 or 4. Which once again is very unlikely. In the first Ground Zeroes trailer we seem to see Chico, who is still young. From Peace Walker Chico was just a boy. So this somewhat re-affirms that the game takes place after Peace Walker, and around the time of the up bringing of Solid Snake.
Whatever it is. This new trailer just threw the MGS universe for a trip. There is a huge plethora of things that could happen and as it looks right now, it's going to be a treat for us MGS fans

the one time Solid Snake encounter Big Boss , was in the Outer Heaven , thats MGS1 . BUT another Big Boss coma moment was when they performed the Les infant terribles (when big bos was with ocelot and Zero in the Patriots) , but that was EVEN before Snake Eater
who knows , maybe that "dream" theory is right , but one thing is fore sure ... "Two Phantoms"
