Strange issue, need input from the pro's

Hello everyone.

So, weird new issue has sprung up. And I"m connecting the dots, but I've got a few blanks I'd like your input on.

Firstly,

I currently play Planetside 2 and Fry Cry 3 extensively. As of 2 days ago everything was running smoothly. Last night Far cry 3 started having FPS issues with random spikes. I chocked it upto the Beta drivers I downloaded a few hours before due to random crashing and that was the suggestion by tech support AND nvidia. So after testing that, and recording my CPU/GPU usage I went onto Planetside 2. Noticed I was getting low FPS and spikes as well, this didn't sit well with me, so I took the day off to research.

Today I start watching a movie on my system, screen cuts out, sound keeps playing for 30-40 seconds, then my system turns unresponsive (I assume, no picture) I reboot and still no image. Was not happy. So took off the side, removed my GPU's switched GPU1 for GPU2. GPU2 is not the primary, and GPU1 is secondary. Rebooted. My Nvidia drivers are corrupted so I"m currently downloading new ones.

So, I'm guessing GPU 1 has had a issue, which leads me to a few questions.

Could this be a PSU related issue? I did the math and my CPU is pulling peak 770watts. My thermaltake is 850watt 80 bronze and around 1 year old. I don't believe I've lost any Wattage however I wanted to see what everyone's opinion was before I shell out 70,000 Yen on a 1000watt gold rated PSU in Tokyo.

So, I installed the latest drivers, and rebooted. Once again, no image and system lockup. Rather annoying for sure!
