Help me oh great and wonderful members of OC.net re: PSU choice

Hi,

Oh great and wonderful overclock users, assist me! My descision could affect the entire world! or just what will turn on a pc i'm starting on making and hoping to "turn on" in late january....

Hehe,

Ok, my budget, (canadian) is 180$$$ approx, give or take a penny, nickle, or if I find it.... 50 cent piece...hehe

http://www.memoryexpress.com/

That's the site i'm buying my power supply from. There's a section on the left for power options, then choose powersupply.

If you guy's could "scroll through them" and find one that will Run the following.

1. SLI Radeon X1950's or Nvidia 7950's in sli. (eventually i'm choosing one style or the other in sli/crossfire).

2. 6x 320gb SATA II drive's (Western digital or Seagate, not sure).

3. i680 (the new nforce series mobo that I think evga has or something, with a fsb able to handle 1333mhz).

4. e6300 Core 2 duo series processor (chose that, i'm upgrading from a celeron 3.2ghtz prescott socket 478, ANYTHING is better then that......)

5. eventually 4gb DDR 800 (pc6400)

6. X-fi Fatality + front panel with it

7. Floppy drive (why not)

8. Dual Layer all the bells and whistles combo drive DVD burner
(probably 2, most likely however 1 for now).

9. I think the Antec p180b (Choice case) has 3-4x 120mm fan's. mb more, so i'll be getting some DECENT 120mm fan's in there.

10. Eventually I may decide to get water cooling, and most likely will consult oc.net

11. um probably 3-4 cathodes.

12. I might throw in a pci slot fan thinger just to helo cooling direction.

That's all I want to run off it, however i'm also thinking of over clocking eventually after I stabalize the system, get it rigged, ghost image it, or similar.

Again, I ask that you restrict your search on this site, http://www.memoryexpress.com/ . Thanks

Le_Loup

Much appreciated!

Primary use of pc is video editing, occasional audio fun, and such, and secondary use = heavy duty gaming finally

OCZ = FSP, FSP = Solid PSU, pc power & cooling wasnt on the site he needs it from, however, that would also be my suggestion were it there.

Thanks for the idea's guys, i'll bookmark it and use it as a reference note for sure!

re: OCZ 700W GameXStreme Power Supply, Ty!

I must have missed it, lol.

And also, I noticed it has 6 SATA power cables, awesome! And read the details thoroughly, noticed it supplises "stable voltage" to dual cpu's! I am definately going to like it.

Question though re: noise of the psu, what's the best way "overall" to keep it quiet, AND not limit it's capeabilities, (other then have it inside a sound proof box.....hehe).

Also since the case I chose is going to have the psu on the bottom, does that actually make less vibrations since it's not hanging by 4 screw's and a mount piece?

another vote for the OCZ 700watt.

i'm guessing your around edmonton or calgray if your ordering off that site. I live in Red Deer, so i usally take the hour an half drive there every time i need parts. theres nothing in red deer for computers stores that aren't over priced.

Gotta love the recent weather though eh? But I definately have to say, mem express is awesome 4 their warrenty's to, easy to swap. Hell I had to swap a 250gb hd 3 day's later after it died with a clicking sound....hehe they plug'd it in, tested, same effect, and swaped right then and there, with proof of purchase (receipt). They're quiet helpful over the phone to, (re: calgary south store).

And bus'ing to it is very easy, short walk from the stop also.

With regard to silencing, insulate all the screws and other parts of the psu that touch the case with blu-tak. This will cease vibration and keep your noise down plenty!

You've also chosen a great case for silencing - I love that front panel that blocks the noise from the drives. Must do a mod lke that on my case.
