Intel SATA II or Marvel SATA III Ports for SSD?

Thread Starter
I've been searching the net all morning, and I haven't been able to find any conclusive answers. I'm using a GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 motherboard, and I want to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate on a Kingston HyperX 3K SSD.

Some say the Intel SATA II ports are better. Others support the Marvell 9128 controller. Which SATA ports are going to be the best gaming?

It looks like some guy benchmarked them in 2011, but he doesn't explicitly say which results were superior.

NONONONONO! SATA III with the 3K! SATA II is limited to 3Gb/s and SATA III is limited to 6Gb/s. To take advantage of the drive's speed you need SATA III

Except some implementations of the Marvell ports are terrible for SSDs. You will likely get much better apparent performance (in real life, not benchmarks) with the Intel ports. Your sequential speed will be limited, but the random speed, which is what SSDs really excel at and where you feel the difference, will be much better on the Intel port.

Intel..The Marvell ones are wonky..I always disable them.
