FX 6100 OC inquiry - Page 2

Well I gave it a go and it seems that I reach roughly the same overclock but with less dram freq so I'm just gonna stick with what I've got. I've managed to get a stable 4.6ghz in prime 95 and come close to a stable 4.7 in prime so I think ill just leave it at 4.7 seeing as ill never stress my cpu as much as prime anyway.

No I meant change it so its close to stock settings. If you have 1600mhz RAM its fine to go under, FX benefits from FSB and multiplier overclocking. You should find you can clock it higher.

As long as DRAM is under its rated frequency, and HT link is about 2200Mhz and CPU NB is at 2200Mhz you can push the chip more. Use both FSB and multiplier to get best result.

I used to use 230 x 19 to get close to 4.4Ghz.

I seem to be getting a better result with straight multiplier OCing. I tried to do it with the FSB and its less stable than with just straight multiplier and I kept the HT link and CPU NB at stock and memory just under rated freq and its less stable than using my multiplier only. I get a good 4.7Ghz with it and Im VERY close to being stable but my voltages are topped out so I just leave it under max voltage because I wont stress my cpu nearly as much as Prime 95.

As long as its stable for at least 4 hours I say it's fine. That's how I personally stress test. The only way to know its stable after that is daily use unfortunately frown.gif

What's your vcore at? 4.7Ghz is high for FX-6100 thumb.gif I only managed 4.4Ghz.

Ive got it at 1.42V with LLC on and it ramps up to 1.53V under load. Im just testing with everyday use to be honest. I can run Prime 95 stable for 8 hours @ 4.6Ghz on 1.40V which ramps to like 1.50V so I just got it as close to stable as I could with 4.7 and let Prime run for 10 minutes and am doing everyday use with it. No problems as of yet.

Be careful with the voltages as they seem to fluctuate. I'd try and get your voltages stable to avoid any spikes that can happen with LLC smile.gif

Voltages are stable, it never goes past 1.54V MAX. Thats with LLC on extreme.
