Thats funny as it should as there on seperate channels. Have you tried the SATA drive in another port ?

Also try and boot up without the SATA drive and see if your IDE shows up in Windows.

Ok Well as there Both optical drives make sure on is set to MASTER and the Other to SLAVE Via the jumpers on the back of the drives..This shouldnt matter as there on different channels accept what you describe is a priority issue,

Are you overclocked? Remove the overclock if so and see if this issue remains. Are you saying that when you have the IDE controller enabled, both the Intel ICH and Promise Conroller do not show up in the device manager? Or do they show up and have issues?

Do you have a sound card installed other than the onboard one? If so, can you remove it and see if this issue remains? If not, can you disable the onboard sound and see if the issue remains. It sounds as if you are having IRQ conflict issues.

If not overclocked, then disable the Promise controller. Does the Intel controller show? Reverse this procedure. Disable the Intel ICH controller. Does the promise controller show up?

If this is the case, then you may have to reserve your IRQ 14 & 15 for the Intel IDE and set reservations for your SATA controllers.

The SATA devices do not run with Master/Slave configurations so you will not have to set such designations on your SATA devices including your SATA Optical drive.
