Modern equivalent of this mouse?

Hello everyone,
So basically, it's Christmas and I thought I'd treat myself.

My trusty Logitech LX3 mouse (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-931622-0914-LX3-Optical-Mouse/dp/B000FKNZRU) recently broke.
It served me well despite some of the terrible reviews and was amazing at what it did. It had some great precision and I was better at my FPS games than I am with the mouse I'm using now.

Perhaps, because the mouse I am using now (Gigabyte GM-6980) doesn't have weights and is naturally light.

I was wondering, is there a modern equivalent of this mouse (Logitech LX3)?

I can't work out whether the G500 is similar or not.
Also, I was originally considering the Logitech G9X, but from what I could gather, it was mainly for people with claw/finger grips and I'm a palmer.

The height of LX3 is a lot more than demonstrated in the pictures so I was wondering if it's the same for the G500?

Cheers!

If you mean equivalent in shape, I haven't seen a mouse quite like that one.

If you mean equivalent in performance, there are tons of mice that will surely outperform it. It depends on which one you prefer. Take a look at these mice: DeathAdder, Abyssus, RAT 3 (3500 dpi version), G400... you can't go wrong with any of them.

Well, from what I understand, a G500 the newer, upgraded version of the G400 featuring a laser sensor (the same as the one in the G9x).
Aren't they practically the same in terms of look?

Is the G500 similar in terms of shape?

99% of people will prefer the G400 to the G500 because of the sensor. I would call the G500 a downgrade, not an upgrade. That said, yes, they are similar in shape, although the G400 is made to look exactly like the MX518 (an older Logitech mouse loved by many).

I just bought a G400 myself fyi (the price was too good to resist).

G500 and G400 are more like products in parallel... G500 is an upgrade to G5, which has the same shape and an older laser sensor. G400 and G500 has slightly different shapes, however, which translates to quite a big difference in feeling in your hand.

As said above, many here prefer the sensor used in G400 to that in G500 as the sensor in G500 has some acceleration issue which makes the mouse does not correspond to your movement in 1:1 ratio. However, it is something that you may or may not notice at all (like 5% variation at max).

There actually is a newer mouse that looks a lot like that mouse but I can't remember who makes it. I want to say it was Asus or Gigabyte.

I was thinking the Asus GX 1000 but that has the 9800, I have a hard time recommending that sensor.
