If i lack in performance by 35% with the GTX670 with half the price of the card, makes me think about it. I am bit confused about the Graphics card to be purchased here in India or US. Where i can lavishly spend the 12k on other components for higher boost such as RAM to 16GB (I will be using VM's)...

pravin you are mistaken. you haven't seen the reviews with the latest 12.11 drivers. also i mentioned HD 7950 boost with 925 mhz boost clocks. that card matches GTX 670 stock.

" At 1920x1200 the GeForce GTX 670 is 12% faster than the Radeon HD 7950 and just 2% faster than the 7950 Boost. However the GTX 670 is 27% more expensive than both cards, so whichever way you slice it the Radeon HD 7950 Boost is the better proposition and things just get worse for the GTX 670 as the resolution is increased."

also the HD 7950 boost does not run at 925 mhz boost speeds consistently because of clock throttling due to power. when you max out power to +20% it will be even faster. at the same clocks HD 7950 is 3 - 6% slower than HD 7970.

http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/34761-amd-hd-7950-vs-hd-7970-clocks/?page=2

When you overclock a HD 7950(1.15 Ghz) is faster than GTX 670(1.3 Ghz). so think and decide.

I must disagree.
By what do you mean that it is a better quality board all around?
What are your arguments to affirm that?
The fact that it has msi logo on it and it looks nice?

I would stay clear of msi in a wide wide wide wide wide angle!

My reasons would be, well i don't know, maybe the fact that most of them get on fire because of the bad mosfets used?
I mean having a motherboard that would catch fire without overclocking (and especially if overclocking) would mind me a little bit, but that might just be me, due to the winter and it being cold you might want it to burn...

To sum it up, i wouldn't touch that motherboard if somebody paid me to do it.

I just looked at the MSI motherboard MSI Z77 Mpower. It looks like it has heatsink inbuild, so that we skip the external CPU cooler (Coolermaster Hyper 212) is that correct ??? Also please let me know is it worth buying this Motherboard, I wont be using the 2nd and 3rd PCIe x16 slots. Overclocking is what i was thinking now.

Also will it give any advantage if i pair it up with some MSI Graphics card say (http://mdcomputers.in/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=MSI%20gtx%20670&product_id=1730) ??? or any brand is fine ???

Also the PSU you have suggested Corsair 600 GS will it be a future one if i have dual cards in SLI ???

1) hehe no dude u still need Cpu cooler to cool ur CPU
2) yes the MSI Z77 MPower is a damn good Mobo
3) There's no advantage of pairing up a MSI Mobo with MSI GPU
4) honestly that gets too tight for my comfort zone (for me) for SLI since sure you will OC your GPU and CPU...i would look for a PSU that can supply little more juice for eg a decent 700-750w or even 800w

Thanks Naved. Well whats the use of the heat pipes they provide with the board ??? it will obviously cool the CPU right ??? Well SLI is not for currently may be in future, so i should be ready to replace the PSU when buying another card for going with SLI.

Well you are right Raghu, Still i am considering Price vs Performance factor. Also i have never bought Graphics card for more than 10k till now (<200$) first time i am going past that margin. Thats why i am thinking 7870 over the others...

if you want value for your money get a MSI HD 7850 power edition. priced around 15,000. 950 mhz clocks. custom PCB with 6 phase power . very high quality components. excellent twin frozr iv cooler. this card is built for overclocking. easily overclocks to 1200 - 1300 Mhz. HD 7850 is 8 - 10% slower than HD 7870 at same clocks. HD 7850(1.15 Ghz) matches HD 7870.

if you are spending so much go for the Sapphire HD 7950 boost. it will demolish the GTX 660 Ti at stock. this HD 7950 boost card overclocked to 1.15 Ghz would beat a GTX 670(1.3 Ghz)

'You are a bit outdated on the info about the vrms pwms and power circuitry used on msi and asrock boards,
old msi ones in the lga 1366/1156 era used to go up in fumes with slight push due to low quality mosfets and power circuitry ! , the recent msi motherboards are revised and don't have any such issues so good luck rejecting awesome value for money boards even if you got it for free just because you have an ill perception of msi, the past of company cannot truly say what its gonna do in the future !

Secondly asrock board's vrms and mosfets are of ok quality but msi ones are simply better and that too at roughly the same price point and with almost same feature set, so any sane guy would obviously go for the msi variant rather than the asrock one !
