Well the guy that sold it to me should have known but then again, its just a student working at a PC store. I did ask will this mobo work with my chip and he said yes... My fault for not knowing jack about VRMs ahead of time. I'm not even getting a gigaybte mobo so sending it in is pointless. What matters to me is whether or not my CPU works still and that I'll find out tonight and post here. Its a costly way to learn something but at least christmas sales bring down the cost of everything.
Changing what I'll get if the CPU still works: going to try and get a sabertooth or something but I'll certainly be checking the VRMs and max TDP wattage. I need at least a 6+2 and 125W right? (that's the lowest I found that wasn't crap like my old one).
My GPU is also gigabyte, seeing as a GPU is essentially a small PC in itself is there anything that might happen or is gigabyte not known for bad gpus? (there's 3 fans, heatpipes and all that jazz on it), running at 100% I never saw it cross 72C.
BTW can a mod move this to the motherboard section and rename it seeing as this clearly isn't a PSU problem anymore Edited by Obrien - 12/10/12 at 9:38am
