Getting bored with current setup, looking at phase to change it up (chiller)

Thread Starter
I am looking at getting a 10,000 BTU AC unit (cheap around this time of year) and modding it to chill my water, I am currently running a 3930k with a 1 GHz GTX 580 (golden card non volt-modded 1.15V) If I ever do actually go through with this I want to take my 3930k from the current 4.2 GHz to ~4.9 GHz with 1.5V-1.55V (crappy OCing chip so if it dies I will buy a new one) and Volt-mod the 580 to 1.2V and try for 1.1GHz on that, can I expect ~10C temps from this under load? or will I need to do some more tuning to the AC unit?

You can expect a good bit colder than that. I'd suggest a thermostat if you have a goal that is warmer. Best way to build a digital thermostat AND monitor temps at the same time would be using a PID thermometer rated for lower temps and a contactor or solid state relay smile.gif
