Build Log : Hobbit

Hey OCN, this will be my next system, and I'd like to post up an upcoming build log of my system, Hobbit, which will have a Small Form Factor Theme.

Silverstone Sugo Series SG09

The whole system will be housed in a fairly new Silverstone SG09 case. I think it looks awesome and I've yet to see many builds with it yet. It definitely has a different and unique layout to it, and I will definitely be excited to put my hardware in this beauty!

Intel i5 3570k CPU

Solid staple mid range cpu; can't go wrong with it.

Z77 Asus Maximus Gene V ROG Motherboard

I got this for a nice deal on an ebay auction. Can't wait to test this baby board's oc capabilities.

Patriot Viper 3 8(4x2)gb Memory

I got these for cheap. They looked cool

MSI nVIDIA GTX 480 LIGHTNING EDITION

I got this mostly for it's awesome aesthetics; would work nicely with red/black mobo. Performs very well in all games except Far Cry 3... Gets hot as **** but it's still a solid beast in its own class.

GPU

Looking for a new graphics card as of now. I'd also like to think of a nice color scheme for my build with the way the card looks

OCZ ZT Series 650w Power Supply

Fully modular. Will be planning to sleeve it but I don't have any idea what color. Please give me some advice on what color I should sleeve it with! I'm using paracord.

128gb OCZ Vertex 4 SSD

swag

CPU COOLER

I will need you guys to suggest me a cooler that will do the job and will look good in my system. I was thinking about the h80i but I kinda want to get an air heatsink at the same time.

Looking like good prospects! It's always great to see mini builds!
For sleeve, MDPC-X has their color X that matches perfect with the RoG boards, so I'd look into that!

I would love to work with MDPC-X, I'm wondering how long does it take for the package to come to me? I'd hate to wait two weeks for some sleeving mad.gif. Also I was hoping to sleeve my power supply with a color that isn't red. I'd like for there to be some contrast between red, black and some other color. What do you think about 'Vanilla Sands'?

I'm currently stationed in the middle east, and it takes about 2 weeks to go from Germany to NY, then down to NJ, then into the Air Force's hands, and all the way back through Italy, Germany again!, and then down to me.

Contrast could be great. Vanilla Sands? Love love love that color. I seriously have no use for it but I ordered some just to sleeve headphone wires, mouse cables, and other misc items.

I guess I could go with MDPC sleeving. About how much do I need just to sleeve my 24pin, two 6+2pin pcies and my 8pin? I am also contemplating if I should get paracord instead since it's so much cheaper
post #8 of 18
It would depend on how long your cables are. Do a quick measurement for your 24 pin, 6+2, and 8 pin (since they are a little different sometimes) and multiply that by the amount of wires (24=23 wires + 8(x2) + 8= 47 wires)

I've seen some guys do paracord with great success though most vow to never touch the stuff again for it's PITA-ness. For a first time sleever, mdpc-x is the way to go. I opted to save some money and went Kobra HD sleeve and regretted it the entire time I desleeved my PSU just to resleeve it in mdpc-x.
