if you can live and accept the metroUI as your start menu and can use the os as a regular os without the need of a touchscreen, go windows 8 .

if you can't accept the metroUI, and other features windows 8 offers, do windows 7.

I have Window 8 and use a mouse just find, just like in Window 7 both are the same but i would stay on Window 7 for now..Microsoft is in a state of panic and don't know what to do with Window 8 right now even thought it run smooth

I was a little bit sketchy about getting windows 8, but the upgrade was only $40, so i figured i wasn't really losing that much.
I installed it, and messed around with it. Other than the occasional glitches that you get; which is reasonable, considering it's a new operating system, I don't think I would go back to windows 7.
It's a little bit hard to get used to, but over time it feels like you have been using it forever, and it feels the same way windows 7 does.

There are a good numbers of application out there that add a start menu and remove the metro UI. Classic Shell is one of them.

I'm using windows 8 on my main rig and I dont see any differences between this and windows 7. Just use whatever version you have/is the cheapest.

Absolutely completely untrue. Five minutes of actually using Windows 8 is all it takes to us it like a pro!
In truth finding and running any app or game is much faster on Windows 8 that any previous Windows OS.
But you have to actually use the OS to find that out.
