I'm guessing that it's the cable box that will decrypt the encrypted cable signal? Who exactly is the cable company trying to fool here? It's 100% obvious that it's purely for profits and a way to milk the customer more...

Well to be fair... I don't think anything is stopping you from getting cable internet and all those same channels lol. I don't know how many people do this, but it could be a legitimate concern.

Already have this in sweden, and well soon you'll have a new subscription to pay for every tv. Easiest way around is just to stop watching altogheter. It aint my pension fund that owns the provider, dare to say no to the pyramid scheme.

You have crazy fast and cheap internet though. Who needs TV with fiber to the house?

My wife and I cut the cord 4 months ago, pay $50/month for internetz and still are able to watch most of our shows on the web or OTA HD basic channels! thumb.gif We were paying $120/month for internet and cable, honestly best decision we've made in awhile. thumb.gif

A lot of people don't know you can do that. I just pay for cable internet and use the basic channels that provide me with. I am building an xbmc box now that will give me a guide and dvr functions

About 8 months ago ,any TV in my house that did not have a digital converter stopped working. My Cable and ISP provider is Comshaft. So we have to now rent a small set top box for every TV in my house .Cable sucks ass.If not for my 2 Daughters ,I would have no TV service at all. I can watch any show or flick I want online for free. ATT sucks too,and in NY ,they really stick you with tons of extra fees to pay for free cable & cell phones for all the illegals.

I haven't had cable for 2-3 years now.

I think the current subscription model is stupid. I would pay for cable but only if I could pay a premium, say $5 per channel a month, and watch just the channels I choose to watch, but commercial free. I would gladly fork over $50 a month for 10 channels I picked that had 0 commercials played.

I don't know how people can justify cable as an expense... if Comcast doesn't let me renew my subscription for internet at my current $19.99 rate, I'm going to get all my neighbors to cancel their internet and we'll go in on one account.
