Are you serius? iPod Touch 2G is a lag fest now. I have one.

And for Apple to release the iPad 4 so soon after the 3... they can die as a company as far as I am concerned.
I had the original iPad and loved it. I sold it a month before the iPad 2 came out, for more than I paid for it. Same with my old iPhone, which I sold for 50 dollars more than I paid for it, when it was 2 generations behind.

As for a company releasing a newer product, welcome to consumer electronics! I fail to see why people get so angry when new stuff comes out. Nobody is forcing you to upgrade, and the rest of us want innovation.

What does she get pissed off at it for? Maybe you are expecting too much from it? It's a content consumption device, if you are trying to create a lot of content on it it's not so much the device's failings rather than you having bought the wrong product.

I didn't realize that you buying the iPad 3 included Apple signing a contract with you stating it couldn't release any products until you think it's time.

This. I just fired up my iPod Touch 2G yesterday.. the lag wasn't even the bad part. I tried to download over a half a dozen apps that suited my interest.. and guess what? "Requires iOS 4.3" "Not compatible with iPod Touch" "Blah blah blah" The device is practically obsolete.

I got it cheap off a friend, and yeah, it runs smoother then any touch device I've ever owned. Granted, nearly everything in the past few years is better, but I don't care, it still impresses me.

On another note, went to Wally World to pick up some Tabasco, and peered through the plastic at the Retina iPad. Dayum.

I gotta be honest, i really like the sleek minimalistic Apple designs, however I totally despise their company approach to new products. It's as if they intentionally over bloat each rendition of IOS so it will break the last hardware generation making it obsolete fast, and as an icing to the cake they require new apps to be installed only on the new IOS...

And that's why I think overall, the Nexus' screen loses to the iPad.
Personally, I find the much richer ecosystem of the iPad 4 far more crucial to its draw, even after considering the superior GPU and battery life of the iPad 4.
Keep in mind the 4th was just a minor upgrade, released only a few months after the iPad 3. But there are other things such as a new 720p front camera, and the effect of a better GPU can be seen in gaming applications.

Its funny how ppi mattered just a few months ago.

What is all this talk about iOS being smoother?

I admit, even the ipad 2 is smooth at nearly everything. Although Jellybean finally has iOS beat, if put on the right hardware.

iOS is smother or better said lag is less present. Not just the OS but other areas too and with much weaker hardware. For exmaple the browser in my iPad 3 (1.0Ghz Dual Cortex-A9) feels smother then Nexus 4 (1.5Ghz Quad A15). Also there is this noticeable input lag with Android devices.

Is there really no difference in speed between the iPad 3 and 4? I tried out the iPad 4 in the apple store comparing my iPad 2 and switching apps always loaded faster (using hand swipes). Never any waiting. Web pages loaded way faster too.
There is a big difference in speed between the iPad 2/3 and iPad 4.

How so? The iPhone 3GS still got iOS 6... it's three years old. Works fine too.
