SOLVED: Is There A Way To Play a game on One Monitor, WHILE browsing the web on another monitor

hey guys, so pretty much i don't know if this has been asked, but a couple of google searches told me that it is not possible. i don't believe that.

The Setup:
A Zotac GTX 680 with Nvidia Surround to 3x Asus 23" Monitors.
Rest of my computer is in my sig

The Dilemma:
My girlfriend enjoys searching over youtube for music videos and discovering new artists.
I enjoy playing borderlands 2 with the triple monitor setup with my wired xbox 360 controller.

What I want to accomplish:
I know that I can put borderlands 2 into windowed mode and set it to one screen, but I want my girlfriend to be able to search on youtube and google on my other screens WHILE i am playing games on the third. She will be using the mouse and keyboard, I will be using my xbox 360 controller.

The Issue(s):
1. When my girlfriend touches the mouse, my game responds and the character acts accordingly, as if it was the main input device.
2. When my girlfriend clicks to open up a browser(chrome), my game stays open, but loses "focus" so my controller does nothing.

My Hypothesis:
With borderlands 2 there is a split screen multiplayer trick that requires you to open up two instances of the game.
The work around is to use a couple of modifiers under the "target link" in the shortcuts properties.
(Steam forums are down right now, but when they come back i will put a link to the work around)
They used a combo of Autofocus, and Controller Offset, to let you play the game in windowed mode on two screens with two controllers at the same time.

Will this work with what I want to do? maybe keep borderlands 2 as always focus? but how can i set the browser "controller" to the keyboard?

Maybe we can work this out together, let me know your feedback!

Thanks Guys!

EDIT: The Solution I have figured out is-

ok so if you own the ACTUAL game (which means the .exe is in your computer, NOT Through Steam)

1. Make a shortcut for the exe.

2. right click shortcut, go to properties, under the shortcut tab enter the following AFTER "c:\programfiles\game\borderlands2.exe":
[SPACE] -AlwaysFocus
just like that, after the final " press space, and then type in -alwaysfocus. this makes the game always think its in front.

3.Now set your game to windowed mode and away u go!

IF YOU HAVE THE GAME ON STEAM, then follow these steps:

1. Open steam and go to your game library.

2. Right Click the game, and click properties.

3. Under the 'General' Tab, click 'set launch options...'

4. Type in, with no space, the following line:
-AlwaysFocus

5. click ok, close the properties.

6. Run the game and set it to windowed mode, and VUOLAH!

Now we can all game on one screen while our spouses browse videos of puppies wearing hats on another!

I have only tested and confirmed this working when I am Gaming on an XBOX controller and my GF is using the keyboard and mouse to browse the web.

This method will probably work if you game with a ps3 controller, or you may end up using an xbox controller emulator.

I DO NOT know if it is possible to game with the keyboard and mouse and use a SECOND keyboard and Mouse to browse the web, this is a little more difficult if at all possible.

The easiest way would be to run a virtual machine but you will lose some fps because its cpu heavy.

I suppose you could use linux or windows xp for the vm so the load is lighter.
Boot the virtual machine before you start the game and set aside a monitor for the vm.
Plug in a separate keyboard and mouse for the vm.

In linux you could bind applications to IO devices if you wanted. You might want to look into software that would let you do that in windows. I cannot think of any myself but I haven't looked either. Another option is to figure out how to make one of your third monitors into a dumb terminal, toss it the apps it will be using along with the mouse and keyboard. Again, you will need specific software for this. Virtual machine is one possibility but a LOT of overhead. Ultimately, what you are trying to do is make a single user device into a multi-user device in terms of Input/Output and that is tricky since PC's have gone away from that mentality.

I am sure the possibility exists but I don't know of the specifics to hand to you. I gave you some keywords and starting points and hope they help you in your quest. Best of luck! If you get it working reply and tell us how!

How about the opposite? Making borderlands controller 2 (by having 2 Xbox controllers in) I wonder if the keyboard will still try to communicate with it.. Why does it look so simple on paper? I would understand it being hard to use 2 sets of keyboards and mice.. But if one input is always a controller then there must be a way
