It just never 'clicked' with me, perhaps that's just my tastes changing as I get older or I don't like change. Either way, I quickly lost interest in it.
Add to this the DLC and I just couldn't be bothered.

I know exactly what you mean, I use to be big into online fps games back in the day such as BF1942, Americas Army 1.x.x up until 3.0 came out, CS 1.6, CS:S, BF2, UT2004, Delta Force: BlackHawk Down, BF Vietnam. Today's online FPS games don't interest me at all, same old stuff that I've already played, friend let me borrow his EA account to try out BC2 and it just didn't feel the same as the old BF games.

They all have their place in gaming. I love the competitive feel in the Counter Strike games which isn't found in other games like CoD or Battlefield, and I love Battlefield for immersion which I just don't get anywhere else in a multiplayer game. There's just no comparing these games because they're all very different.

Great opinions. Too bad they are going against fact.
I know the value of a dollar. A fact.
And no need to be specific. There is nothing wrong in being a tenant of a household.

As for bf3; to me it is the only game that provides exceptional infantry and vehicle combat. For example Planetside 2 scale is like no other, but the infantry combat just flat out sucks, and unlocking guns and upgrades is the longest grind ever unless you pay. Also yes you are serious disadvantaged if u do not have these upgrades for example not having flares or missiles etc in planetside 2 you are doomed against other players. Bf3 is the same but it takes no where as long to unlock these things.

I'm pretty sure BF2 was more popular...are there many BF2142 servers up right now? Because there are a number of BF2 servers that we've been playing on regularly..

Who is talking about BF2142? We are talking about BF1942. BF2 is great base for mods. BF1942 is what set the standard for the series, which the series was never able to match ever again. BF3 came closest though.

I misread. Still, BF3 is farthest from the recipe that made the games fun for me. Honestly, we(my friends and I) enjoyed BF1942, but had much more fun with BF2. Still play it. BF3 was just too much of a step toward COD type play than the others. If a mod had come out to make it more like it's predecessor, I'd definitely have picked it up.

For me BF3 was the most anticipated game for a very very long time, I'm an old BF that stated playing back when 1942 was around. Have hundreds if not thousands of hours of playtime on BF2. But about 20 hours of playtime on BF3, I might as well give away my account.

BF2 was such a good example of team play made perfect, a commander who controlled all the squads, and each squad with their own objective. Then is the built in VOIP in BF2, perfect for good squad coordination, everything gone in BF3.

For me BF3 is jut CoD with bigger maps, in BF3 it's "run, shoot, die, run, shoot, die" repeat for rest of the match. In BF2 the objective was still capture the flag and the whole team worked to get the each position, you sneaked up slowly with the aid of the snipers who scouts for you. Now it's just "NEED MORE K/D ****!!11!11oneone LETS DO THIS, LEEROY JENKINS!!!" the whole purpose is forgotten and the game is now mainstream, which EA surely wants, mainstream yields more revenue.

So for me the whole Battlefield franchise is as dead as a rock, i will never ever pay a single cent to EA/DICE for a game that has anything with Battlefield or Medal Of Honor (which they BTW also killed. MOHAA, good times!). I very much dislike the whole idea of a DLC or expansions, when you pay 70$ (yes it was that expensive in sweden on launch) for a game, you want to have all the content if not at release, but then as updates or patches along the way.

Now I'm pissed at this ***** game. mad.gif

I'm fairly disillusioned with this game as well. I played BF2 for years, but couldn't hardly get a year out of BF3 before the shine was gone and so was most of my interest. I still play a round now and then, but just can't get back into it frown.gif

I enjoy the maps like armoured shield and Bandar desert but the gunship really gets on my nerves. Was just playing two nice round of my favourite sport ( downing choppers on foot) and seventy five % of my deaths was from the gunship. Pointless addition to the game for me. Everything else I really enjoy

I do not understand what would make this game similar to COD considering Battlefield did modern warfare first compared to COD.
