I had so many outrageous mods back in BF2... snipers with 4 zoom modes that fires tank shells... 100 round per second arty... imagine that in a 64 bot LAN... MADNESS, but FUN! lol. Point blank bot snipers would kill so many people by mistake lol.

Those days are long gone ever since COD showed up. It better to charge people for new maps in form of DLC then make a map editor and let people make maps and mod like CS days. They dont want BF3 to last 10 years.

BF became a testing platform after 2142. They need to test with some things before they make that one long lasting product. It may be BF4 that is the long laster. Or BF5. We won't know until they are ready to make such a release.

They should take hints from ArmA... heck, look at DayZ! Not counting the famous mods of old, like Project Reality... thing is, it isn't the devs, they would LOVE this. It's the devs bosses, you know, the businessmen.

I would whole-heartedly support gathering a petition to compel EA to enable mod support for BF3. Custom guns, skins, settings... imagine the possibilities. Can only wonder how many people it would take to get the petition even heard though... 200k? frown.gif

Forgot how useful the Commo-Rose was,
Quote:
While the exclusion of the commander position was a huge let down for many long time Battlefield players, there was another omission that caused even more backlash. The commo-rose was a communication tool that was brilliant in many ways. After holding a key on the keyboard a wheel of responses would pop up allowing you to ask for a pickup, request more ammo, or say thanks among many other things (30). It was simple, intuitive and allowed bi-directional communication between two people that may or may not even speak the same language and required no special hardware such as a microphone. The console Battlefield: Bad Company series did not have the commo-rose and instead had something called a social button.

The social button was far inferior to the commo-rose in a number of ways. It was context sensitive depending on what you were currently aiming at so if you needed repairs, you would have to turn your eyes away from the action and locate an engineer, and then hit the button. This would send an audio message to that engineer unlike the commo-rose which would send an audio message to all engineers and also show up in the text feed and you needn't turn your back on the enemy to do it. Also the social button completely lacked some of the options the commo-rose had such as bailout (when in a vehicle), sorry, and need back up among others.

Definitely missed it in the subsequent BF games.
Edit- I see it was changed in BF3 with updates? Guess that's one positive check mark for the game, heh!

Here's an example of what you got for $20 for BF2:
Quote:
6 new forces - Navy Seals, British SAS, Russian Spetznas, MEC Special Forces, Rebel groups and Insurgents, each with their own unique arsenal and tactics
8 new maps - strategic locations featuring expanded indoor play
10 new vehicles, including the Desert Raider, Combat ATV, and Apache Longbow
Special Forces weapons and gadgets including zip line, grappling hook, tear gas, and flash bang grenades
Dynamic Lighting and Low Light Vision bring stealth and tactics to the battlefield, allowing players to hide in the dark or spot enemies with night vision goggles
Generalized Triggering System used to control key elements of the environment
Online multiplayer action with 64 players on the PC
Join a squad or select Commander Mode with the new night vision filter to assume the strategic role of a battlefield commander directing his forces
Character Persistence and Growth. With in-game success, players can attain additional ranks and unlock new awards

One is an expansion, one is overpriced DLC. People are getting much less than they used to for their money. Keep in mind that DLC I mentioned for BF3 was Karkand, you got a lot less with the others.

That picture is funny. Mainly because of how incorrect it is to the majority of releases. COD sells DLC for $15, overpriced, but they are not made until later after the original game was released. Most games now actually follow what has been a norm for PC for the past 10 years.

What does COD have to do with this?

Also, you're 18. You were 5 in 1999. Please don't tell me I'm incorrect when I was buying games with proper expansion packs with money I earned before you were born. If you'd like, I can go through all of the expansion packs of games released from the past two decades to show you you aren't getting your moneys worth.

Edit: Not to mention expansion packs weren't planned well before games were released.

Okay, either you are trolling, or you are seriously love insulting people for agreeing with you for the most part.
I have many games that I have that were made before I was able to speak. I know what they are like.
Did you know the value of the dollar has been dropping steadily for the past two decades as well? Yeah, so that "moneys worth" is more expensive than you think. I can also list games that do not have proper expansions and overprice their DLC/addons/expansions. I can tell you BF3 is not one of them. I can tell you a good chunk of Capcom games are culprits.
You know Fallout 3&NV? And Skyrim? Are you going to put them into your list? Because they have DLC that is priced by a good amount. NV has an Ultimate Edition which is nice, but so does BF3...
