That IS true about the whole 'mount up or die' in some levels, but that's intended for just that reason. Infantry combat is not viable in most modern primary combat situations. When armor is rolling in, infantry are out of the way. Thankfully, there are so many options to play with now, you can easily avoid all the content that has been mentioned/complained about.

I don't like CQ and am... meh on AK, so I avoid CQ and play AK rarely. I LOVE B2K and vanilla, and haven't tried aftermath yet... stupid 6gb downloads frown.gif (patch and dlc... then it patched again ..... ).

BF3 is certainly ripe with variety, and that i am very appreciative for. Too bad there's just not enough time in the day with all the games I have now or i'd play more lol.

It's a very different game and enjoyable for many different reasons. It's more twitch based and a great party game. It's not really even comparable to BF3, although people like to do it a lot.

Hitscan zero recoil weapons are better then weapons with (mostly) proper rates of fire/bullet travel speed/drop?

BF3 being a huge improvement, they already are dishing out what they have been doing. Are BF1942 and BF2 the same in gameplay? No, sprint sped up the games.

From what I've heard about BF4, they're aiming for what everyone wanted BF3 to be. I think all the negative reception on BF3, whether it was justified or not, discouraged them from putting an extensive amount of work into BF3 (such as adding Battlerecorder and stuff like that), even though they have already put a ton of work into it. DICE is still very much about their community and I'm sure reading all the comments about how EA is ruining them and stuff like that has been completely disheartening for them.

I always felt that BF3's biggest issue was the community itself. DICE is still getting blamed for stuff the community has asked for (close quarters, faster pacing, over-balancing, etc).

BF4 is going to be BF3 with less glitches and extra features. And that is what a BF sequel in this day in age should be.
For everyone downing EA... why? What are they doing wrong? Are they kidnapping your GF/BF? Are they threatening you at gunpoint? The PC community has been in a downward spiral for the past few years attracting more jerks as of recent. I am not saying everyone who is getting into PC gaming now is a jerk, the majority aren't. But there is still a lot joining the community.

PC purists that only care about graphics and dont give a *** about gameplay, will likely prefer bf3. Don't get me wrong, bf3 is a good game -- but gameplay wise, I like ground combat. Flying a plane and / or constantly getting killed by vehicles isn't my thing. I much prefer the smaller maps and gun feel of BO2. I cannot stand vehicle combat, and ground combat is not viable on many maps.

I also don't like how premium is shoved down everyones throat. EA is nickel and diming everyone that plays bf3 and laughing all the way to the bank.

Another funny post. Objectively BF3 gameplay matched BF2's speed of play with better physics, gun mechanics, animations, etc. (Overall gameplay was better). Then you have the subjective preferences, the people who prefer BF2 for those very few features that was removed and leave all of the major changes for the good in a different game.
If they do not like change so much, they should be playing MW3 and L4D2.

If that's what he prefers, that's fine.

I don't mind the mindless gameplay of a CoD game, especially with friends. Other than MW3, I've enjoyed them all just as much as I've enjoyed the Battlefield series. They both have their place in gaming.

The features that were removed/modified were part of the core of BF2...not being able to do VOIP in game, removing modding tools, minimizing the use of commo-rose, commander...you know all the crap we're going to mention....yet, you say BF4 will have extra features...what extra did BF3 have aside from the Frostbite engine? It's rhetorical.

So you are saying that sound effects cannot affect the gameplay at all? You really think they do not go hand in hand? For a game like Arma or any combat simulator, I would expect some authentic sound effects. If I do not like the sound effects in one game, particularly BF3, then it's going to somewhat spoil the experience.

What a subjective statement. Define "better"? Both games are developed for different target audience.

Should I be going around saying that Gran Turismo is a better game than Need For Speed because Gran Turismo is "better"? You are comparing apples and oranges.

It really doesn't make sense in arguing which game is better.

this is basically what i've been saying all along... BF3 has pluses, mainly graphical along the natural progression of technology, however it cut out core elements that could have easily been included simply because they could. THAT I don't agree with. BF3 was nerfed to a tactical CoD with vehicles basically frown.gif Too many people, usually bad commanders or lone wolves, severly underrate the usefullness of a good commander and squad leader. A good commander can easily turn the tide and pull a bunch of poor players and lone wolf. trigger happy idgets together into at least a focused mess of stupid biggrin.gif I was a top commander, as in top 50-100 in the world for points for a few months when i was commander whoring. I LOVED it. But time faded and points were overshadowed lol. I know I did it though, and that i'm proud of smile.gif Ah, fond memories rolleyes.gif

Yeah, I had some amazing times in the commander seat in BF2142. It was awesome having even just three squads that were working with me. Having squad leaders that would give me feed back on the in game voice and listen my orders...damn it was amazing some times.

Of course for each of those games there was probably five games where half of me team wasn't even in a squad and the squad leaders that did exist were not even giving their squads orders...let alone listen to mine. So I can why they might want to remove it...but they should at least have it be optional on the server. i think for rated servers it should be mandatory.

IMHO it's better to have it and not use it than not have it and need it. Having it there and it being unused wouldn't hurt anyone. People complaining the other team has a commander and we don't!... well... go command then! lol. No different than the other team having more skilled players and using teamwork. It's always unfair when you can't compete lol.

I'll be hoping they bring it back... REALLY hoping biggrin.gif
