[Kotaku] The Good And Bad of Battlefield 3, One Year (Or So) Later - Page 5

I just found the game painfully boring, probably wouldn't be so bad if the stock maps weren't so horrid, maybe the DLC maps are better, but I wasn't will to shell out more cash on a game I played 5 hours in like 10 months.

I'll wait for the 2142 sequel, and skip 4.

2. Ah, yes. The realism argument. Sorry, I don't play to experience how real it is to be shot in the chest by various round sizes that all kill me after a few minutes at best. I play to have fun. What is the point of having different guns if they all feel the same? Oh, and bring back the wire-guided weapons like the AT4, btw. Tired of locking on, firing, and praying. Takes no skill either.

3. Don't get me wrong, some maps are okay, but a lot are obviously biased one direction or the other and turn into boring chokepoint fests, given even teams of course. 64 players tends to magnify the effect for some reason.

4. Spent hundreds of hours on different Battlefield games learning how to know when to duck around the corner. This is definitely blatant compared to other shooters in general.

My only real gripes with the games are as follows:
- No in-game VOIP.
- Removing content from future DLC

Neither of these have ruined the game for me. Still find myself being impressed with the graphics, audio, gameplay and I've not become bored with the maps (well, maybe the Close Quarters DLC maps). Never had major issues with bugs or crashing post open beta. Been loving it since Open Beta and continue to love it; best FPS I've played since BF2.

Gonna have to skip like half the replies since many are the same...

There's no doubt in my mind that BF3 could be a great game, but to me, it's the same thing as BFBC2, and I just can't stand when people diss another game and say it's always the same, and go to playing something the very same as its' last iteration.

Fanboyism is great here, but that's exactly what we need less of. Voicing opinions is good, but why is it that the people who voice their opinions on this forum seem to get shot down the quickest.

Back on topic, like I was saying BF3 could be great, but for some reason they don't learn after beta testing and continue to leave gamebreaking bugs in, then they are forces to turn off "features" in the future. No game dev should ever have to do that, to me that is ignorance. You can't implement said feature only to take it away later because guess what, some people are TOO skilled! This right here doesn't make any sense to me, and hearing that almost ALL the guns have been nerfed now, makes this game part of my do-not-want list, which doesn't ever really happen. "Give a man one gun, he's superman. Give a man two guns, and he is god."

I honestly don't know what EA did to the game in their 'reset nearly every stat ever on anything' patches. But to me the game feels very unresponsive and hard to control with as much finesse as it used to be.

Maybe that's just because I haven't played the game in ages or.... I dunno... did they maybe change the graphics to something more intensive and I am unaware of lag? No clue.

The game was pretty good.

....Until the Xbow showed up.

Why the Xbow? WHY!?

Do we not have enough one-hit-kill sniper rifles and shotguns, now we need an insta-death bolt?

Does DICE just want to rehash a bunch of "arrow to the knee" jokes?

Why the Xbow? WHY!?

I played COD since the last days of COD2.Until MW3 came out I liked them all but MW3 didn't do it for me.I have not played Black Ops 2 on PC yet just a little on PS3.

Got BF3 mainly because that is what my clan went to.I didn't play any of the previous BFs.I have to say I love it and still play almost every night. No game is perfect but how many games have so many game types are options. There is something for everyone.I got the premium for I think it was $34 because of birthday 25% off which helped a little.

Anyway I think its awesome still and I don't use the same weapons.I have been putting a 1000 kills on every gun and there is a big difference in several.Been hooked on canals for a while even though I play other stuff.I can't get enough got my score a minute up to 786 lol.

The game is awesome !

4: Understood. And I have not had any vault issues that were not my own fault.
5: Oh yes. I am a noob when I have played over 1100 hours across 5 different Battlefield games dating back to BF1942.
I have seen noobs, they are arrogant, they have spam-like tactics. Oh, also, I have unlocked 2 camo's in game in the over 7 hours I have played.
6: They are reasonable assignments. 150 kills is not that bad. (I only looked at weapon unlocks as I do not care much for camo).
FYI, I hate noobs, factually I am NOT a noob. Deleted the insulting and disrespectful part of your post, don't feel like getting my post deleted by a mod for quoting disrespect.
Edit: Another FYI, I still play BF2 (AIX mod and FH2 mod) as well as BF3.

I called you a noob as with 7 hours play time in BF3 that is what you are a new player... deal with it.

Doesn't matter how many hours you have in other BF games that does not qualify you to bash players views (with vastly more hours than you) at this game, which is precislely all you have done to anyones critical views on parts of BF3 in this thread you even rudley labeled my initial post as "Biased Rant"... that a pretty ignorant way to act.... also as I am a BF3 player and premium member care to define how my "rant" qualifies as bias? bias to what exactly?

Premium assignments don't even relate to weapons they are all camo/weapon camo/dogtag related so you again dismiss a point I made then show me here you didn't even comprehend what I wrote.

Guns in general are not similar but I'm not going to debate the performance of reallife military weapons here - yes similar calibres do similar harm but we talk about not just damage but the spread, recoil, ROF and other factors that have been largely nerfed to be identical (or near to) with many weapons in this game.... it wasnt always like that this has happened with the patches.

Ahh yes, premium assignments. I haven't delved into those much. Also, the term is "newbie" or "newb" for someone who is new. "Noob" is a term used for people who are not skilled or use spam-like tactics. I have not bashed people's views (not intentionally at least), though I have put in my views as well as facts that I have discovered.
As for recoil and spread, I have noticed differences in every weapon I have used.

2: Tell that to Colt, FAMAS, Ruger, etc. then.
3: That is understandable. I play with 23 other players so the effect may in-fact be less then in your situation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_authority This is a classic example of a logical fallacy. Assuming yourself to be true because you have more experience than another. What's more, you consider yourself a legitimate expert on the subject at hand. Pull your head out. I don't want to get involved in the argument itself. But ad hominem attacks and grandstanding your own apparent ability to judge the differences in the game rather than actually displaying either evidence or logical reasoning really annoys me.

Actually I question a 7 hour player (by anyones standard not experienced) to dismiss the views of all others that posted what they saw as shortfalls here..... try reading the whole thread.... I don't claim my views must be correct but I do take offence at them being dismissed as "Biased Rant" and also that the reasons they are then dismissed are not even related in some cases to the points I listed showing they were attacked for the sake of it not even on the basis of the person reading/comprehending what I wrote.

Maybe before attacking me you should read the whole thread properly rather than grandstanding your own (failed) ability to judge.
