Fan orientation suggestions...

Just got my new Haf XB today and just don't know which way would work best for air flow, which fans should be intake and which should be exhaust?

Picture below shows the current setup, 2 120mm fans at the front, 1 of the front fans is for a rad which is push pull with 2 120mm fans so you might aswell say 3 120mm fans (rad is for gpu 7950 using dwood backet). Also a 120mm fan on the rear and will add the 200mm fan to the top soon (intake or exhaust?). Noctua NH-C14 has 2 fans pointing down towards motherboard. Also currently have 90mm fan on the gpu using dwood's bracket but im thinking with all the other fans that its not going to be needed?

Suggestions please...

my case is setup with 2 120mm front intake, 1 120mm rear exhaust, 2 140mm top exhaust. this has always worked good for me in all my system builds.

Anyone else can help with ideas?

I was thinking 200mm on top as intake, rear 120mm as intake, all 3 front 120's as exhaust, don't use 90mm on gpu

This way gpu vrm/memory + h80 gets cool air from top, cpu gets cool air from rear, all gets exhausted out the front

Good idea?

I have my top 2 as intake, the rear as exhaust and the 2 front as exhaust. I find that this tends to keep most of the dust out of the machine as most of the dust I have found comes through the front intake.

Left side second fan up at base of GPU will cause less air to e drawn into GPU because of the fast airflow across the face of GPU fan.

The yellow optional GPU fan I don't understand. Is GPU a reference and you're trying to stack a second fan on it?

Other than that it looks fine.thumb.gif

My gpu has been modded to a h80 cooling it instead of the stock fan and the extra 90mm fan is the fan I currently have attached to dwoods h80 bracket for vrm cooling but with my setup im thinking its not needed

Than it may well be needed but the fan blowing across it is not a good idea.

The VRM chips need cooled just like the processor. wink.gif

Well in my old case without it being closed and having the 90mm fan blowing only on the main vrms I got max temps of aound 50C on both vrm 1 and vrm 2

I will do some tests now see what temps I get without the top 200mm fan

EDIT: Vrms go up to about 70C and that's with all front fans as exhaust and only rear fan as intake and I have taken out the 90mm fan, that seems pretty good to me as all fans are on low

Need to get the 200 up top and see how it goes then...

Sounds like a plan. Usually takes several tries to get the airflow moving just right. I use a little indoor/outdoor thermometer with a corded remote sensor and put it different places inside of case. Really helps in figuring out the flow and where the hot spots are.
