I have made a list of games which i can play on Lan with my brother over the christmas, though i need some expert opinion in these games whether the game is worth playing..

1. Serious Sam 3
2. Painkiller Hell & Damnation
3. Gears of war
4. Torchlight 2
5. Hunted: the demon's forge
6. Demigod

Other advises are welcome !

gamespot/metacritic/gameranking are your friends!

out of those i've only played torchlight 2. it was pretty fun but at the end of the day RPG's aren't my cup of tea; i was raised on RTS like Command & Conquer/Warcraft/Starcraft.

What aspect of Torchlight 2 put you off?

No age of empires/mythology? redface.gif

Edit: To answer OP, Torchlight 2 is really fun and you can't go wrong with Serious Sam 3 co-op mayhem. You might also consider playing Quake 1 & 2 + expansions co-op as well.

Played AoE 1, 2,3 , mythology and played it so many times that got bored of the repetition of the game.

Serious Sam 3 and Torchlight 2 for sure, SS because it's hard to not find it fun with it's fast pace and cheesy humor, Torchlight 2 because it's a fun hack and slash (cool items to collect, lenient stats/skill trees - you can have anything from a shield wielding pistol guy to a mage lugging around a giant two-handed cannon of doom, plenty of playtime even if you only plan on just getting just one class/character to the max level, randomized dungeons if you get bored of campaign, more player-made content for sure once modding tools will be released etc.).

If you're a fan of RTS, i'd highly recommend grabbing the THQ humble bundle which has Company of Heroes in it. I'd argue it's a bit more complex than Dawn of War 2 which came after it, but it's so good with all the mechanics - suppression, cover, attacking weak spots etc. Random game to get an idea of what gameplay is like:
