SupremeFX IV?

Thread Starter
Anyone using the on-board sound on the Asus Maximus V? Kind of curious if its any good, I was going to add a Xonar DGX to my build with it, however, if the on-board is as good I can put that 40$ into another area.

if it helps you, asus on board was not as good as my creative xtreme gamer in my old setup that had a supreme FX II card

Lots of people says it sucks. I am using the maximus v gene which uses a previous generation sound card, and I certainly don't see a problem with it (especially compared to run of the mill on board audio). Granted it isn't as good as my essence STX card, but what do you expect rolleyes.gif. I have listened to the supreme fx IV, and I think it sounds fine considering it is onboard.

In my own opinion, if you needed a good board for overclocking, you were pushing your CPU to the point where you do need to water cool your mobo (which is rather unlikely), you needed the red and black color scheme, you wanted to stick with an asus motherboard, and the supreme fx sound card is a bonus, then it will be good enough. If you don't essentially NEED the maximus v formula, then you can get a better user experience by getting the asrock OC motherboard and sticking a decent sound card on it.
