Thanks for the earlier video help guys. One last question & some history to share.

Hi Guys,

I'd like to thank everyone who's replied to the posts I've made about video cards & other things.
Collecting other opinions & knowledge helps us make good decisions on things.
So, much appreciated.

I'm most likely going to pick up a GTX 670 this time around. As I said in an earlier post. I like to run two video cards. I'm a glutton for " power "... lol
As before, I play all the FPS games. I want to be able to max everything out in BF3,Crysis.Crysis2,Warhead & any other games. And, have it play well. Yes, I want my cake & eat it too... lol
But, I'm running a 24inch monitor. Max rez 1900x1280.
So, even tho a single GTX 670 would kick some butt. Would it just be overkill to have two GTX 670's in SLI on a 24inch monitor..??

I'm not an AMD/ATI or an Nvidia fanboy. I've used cards from both camps. I " thought " when I bought 2 HD5970's & ran them in Crossfire years ago. I was future proofing my rig for years to come.
Sadly, the HD5970's never recieved the full support that ATI " should " have thrown behind those monsters. many others who had these cards cried out for specific drivers for our cards to make them work like they were supposed to.That never happened.
Not long after I had my setup complete. I read an article showing that 2 HD5870's in Crossfire were actually faster/worked better than a single HD5970.
That really sucked.
It's like a kick in the gut.One that cost me almost $1,000.00 dollars in video cards.I will never go dual GPU on a single card again.

Years after I had my " gamer rig " as I call it. The latest drivers were no better & actually made the the HD5970's run worse than earlier dversions. The most recent drivers were giving me BSOD's & lockups. I went back to version 12.8. And games were playable again.
Upon exiting Crysys2 for example, every single time the game exits to a black screen. Not the desktop like it should. A black screen & I'd have to reboot the machine.
If I tried to run Crysis2 in DX11.It seriously bogged down the the cards in single or Crossfire mode.
So, those beast are going to be someone elses problem in a day or so after the auction ends.

Please take my advice. I am a seasoned computer build with 12+ years of experience. I know what I'm doing.
If you are offered older dual GPU cards. Run the other way........
I can't speak for the likes of a GTX 690. But, older dual GPU cards promised so much. And delivered less than satisfying results.

My thanks go out to you all in the PC community.
It's great to share insights & experiences with you all.

Hello .

A single GTX 670 is enough for those games at 1080p , it will max out about 95% of games at that resolution unless you play: Far Cry 3, Metro 2033, Hitman Absolution, Sleeping Dogs ... etc .
I suggest you grab a one GTX 670 at first and if you feel it is not enough for your needs, you can easily buy the second for SLI thumb.gif
But If money is not an issue sure the GTX 670 SLi will offer better frame-rates and you will play at higher playable settings in demanding games.
