How come 60 frames on a 120hz monitor looks like (*& ?

Not a flame war about 120 frames vs 60 frames - This is an honest question since I can see it ! 60 frames on a 60hz monitor looks normal but 60 frames on 120hz monitor looks visually distorted ? Can somebody help me understand why ?

It's probably stutter and nothing to do with the monitor.

All games seem to look off to me - I hooked up my 1080 60hz monitor to play farcry:3 and the game looks smooth at 60 frames - But on 120hz monitor at 60 frames it looked awful . 120 to 100 looks smooth anything lower looks distorted

I own the Samsung SA950

Exactly what Powermonkey said. I can attest to this, having tested 15, 30, 60, 120hz content on my monitor. Limit fps to exactly 60 and it'll be what you expect.

But I can clearly see it !! Why would a 60hz monitor look smoother at 60 frames ?
