GA-78LMT-S2P OC?

Thread Starter
Built my nephew a new cheap PC for his bday.. Got the Motherboard and CPU at Microcenter for $79 ($10 Rebate) went AMD do to my own budget constraints. Anyway, is it possible to squeeze out a few hundred extra Mhz from the Gigabyte mobo http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4125#ov on a FX 4100? I know the board is a revision 5.0 and has a Split Power Plane 3+1 phase VRM. Definitely a budget mobo.. lol

The rest of the specs..

FX 4100 CPU
GA-78LMT-S2P mobo
GTX 650 GPU (got it for $87 open box at MC)
Fractal Core 3000 ($29 at MC)
Western Digital 500GB HDD
Corsair CX 430 PSU
OCZ 4GB 1600Mhz Memory
Will be getting a new HSF if there is a possibility of a a medocre overclock..

I know not the best specs, but he plays on an older 19" 1280x1024 Dell LCD..

I wouldn't do an overclock on that board. That board is 3+1 phases AND no low rds (on), which gives it the 95w max supported tdp. Honestly, I don't think an overclock lower than like 1ghz would even give any differences due to the low resolution.

I think those are low RDS (on) ICs but I would also be hesitant to give this board an okay for OCing.

Yeah, after actually taking a close look at the board, it does look like it does have low RDS (on). I was going off of the amd vrm database lol.
