3570K - Is This Temp Normal?

Thread Starter
I have never overclocked before, and am just following guides. I currently am running a 3570K at 3.8GHz 1.200V at 71*C. Is this temperature much too high at 3.8GHz as everyone else seems to be hitting the 70s when they are clocked at over 4GHz.

What cpu cooler? Are those under a load? What software are you using to test this?

Is that the minimum voltage needed for that speed?

I'm running mine at 1.2V and 4.1ghz, and I hit about 70C in Intel Burn test on my 212 Evo thumb.gif

I'm using a Coolmaster Hyper Evo 212 cooler, and testing with Small FFT tests in Prime95.

When you say resetting the heatsink, do you mean taking it off to replace the thermal paste, then putting it back again?

I'm not sure what the minimum voltage is to run the 3570K. I've just been reading forums and people have told me to start OC at 1.200V.

Leave the voltage stock until you begin experiencing stability issues. I have the same setup with a different motherboard (asus p8z77-v lk) and the max temp I saw was 74C at 4.2 Ghz on stock voltage.

I have the same cooler and same 4.2ghz. Temperature is about 65-70 degrees when gaming. But that's probably because my room is hot as hell and the case I'm using until my haf xm gets here has poor airflow lol. The only thing I did with voltage was put the offset setting at 0.005.

Well, 3.8 isn't even overclocked since the 3570K will turbo to that speed at stock, so you definitely don't need to be adjusting the voltage for that. I would expect 1.2V to be good for something in the range of 4.2~4.4 so I'd try a 42 multiplier and see what that does for you. You can also try just putting the Vcore back on Auto, that'll be fine for the 4.2~4.4 range as well.
